Thank You. I just got my first squarebody. I got a 1979 GMC on Friday. The man who sold it to me said it needed valve seals and door hinge pins. The doors are very hard to close so i just close them softly and leave them loose. I am not going to bang them closed. It has the 350 CID V8 I believe. Smokes a lot if you give it the beans.

No, I was holding a piece of tubing with my left hand and cutting with my right, and the wheel grabbed and hit my arm, grabbed my sleeve and wrapped my shirt up. Not my brightest moment.

I like to make sure my body gaps are lined up just right after stuff like this. An easy way to tell you got it dialed in is to open the door. If the front of the door grabs the fender and makes that blood curdling sound of maximum paint gouging and you can see the panels flex...you've got'er dialed in! That's for maximum aerodynamicalness!

For anyone else that has a hard time getting the pin to seat into the hinge, get a ball joint removal kit. It works great for this or alternatively you can remove the door AND hinge and use a press of some kind.

I just put my driver's door on my '80 shortbox. First time I undid it and it dropped. Definitely the bushings - this literally showed up the weekend that I am working on this. Gotta love it man - thanks!

@@SquarebodyStuff It went great, thank you. I hung the door from the roof of my shop as I don't have an engine hoist. Used ratchet straps, worked like a champ. Electric locks and windows make this a bit tougher but it's still not bad. Thanks for the tips and the video.

I replaced them in my first truck 28 years ago. I used a jack to support the door and did them one at a time, looks easier to take the door off. For your personal safety, I’d like to see you put a guard on your grinder. Especially when using a cut off wheel.

Good stuff. Did mine this exact same way. My problem is… I can’t get the pins “tapped” / hammered in on the passenger side… the copper/ bronze bushing went in fine.. just the same pins won’t tap in.. driver side went in fairly decent.. although I think I cracked my bushings. Not sure if it makes a difference or not but I was using a 1lb mini/ hand sledge.. don’t own a a ball ping. Can get one if you think it would make a difference. I was thinking of pressing them in with a vice. Have someone hold the vice while I turn…. Anything than having to remove the fender… any suggestions? Thanks bud.

You can get to the bolts by just removing the door.

Why do my bushings keep getting destroyed when I try to hammer in the pin. Also why won’t the pin hammer in? I’m using the same kit as in the video.

Without being there, I'm not sure I can be much help. You might have to drill the holes out just a tad.

Hey chad I know you know all about these trucks. I got a 77 k10 with the granny trans like squeaky. I put a new clutch and adjusted it and it sticks to the bottom. I have to help it up a little then it springs up. I don’t know what’s causing it. I put a new return spring and it still does it. I also had it adjusted all the way and still sticks.

Lube everything up real Good. Double check and make sure everything is correct.

@@SquarebodyStuff I put more grease on the z bar grease fitting and it seemed to fix it. I did notice my adjustment rod was a little bent idk if that can cause trouble to. Thanks for the help.
