-round file or drill bit
-t50 bit if you need to adjust your latch pin
-floor jack if you’re alone
The process is the same for 1st gen and 2nd gen including Blazer, Sonoma, S15, Jimmy, Bravada, Hombre, 2WD, 4X4, V6, 4 cylinder, blah blah blah its the same process
We're gonna do an entire video on the door pins of our 2nd gen lifted 4x4 S-10 but for now this video will focus entirely on the details behind fixing your door, having straight body lines and having them close like butter using our first generation boosted V8 S10 as an example.

I just bought my uncles 2001 Chevy S10 ZR2 with 91k miles for $1,200 and all its needed was a crankshaft position senor, the door hinges and I've got a few rust spots to fix. Thanks for the video, I'm getting ready to do this just as soon as the mail runs with my kit from Amazon hopefully I'll be able to beat the rain off this storm because I'm tired of slamming the drivers door every single time.

It is not NEEDED but it helps keep your door propped open when getting in and out. A door spring compressor tool is what you need to reinstall

I love the look of your truck and I’ve been trying to find the same style front bumper you have for my 5.3 swapped s10. All I can seem to be able to find is the stock bumper. Do you have a part number for that style front bumper? Or is it custom fabricated?🤔

Thanks! I love it too but i've still got a long way to go before im satisfied of the look of it The bumper is actually factory S10 with some bumperettes(not sure on part number) I got in on a trade 6 years ago and I love them! Some people hate them but oh well

@10:00 Sometimes an appropriately sized C-clamp & sockets is a better choice when you have resistance and pressing required than a hammer. Experience will dictate. Bushings and the receptacle should have been greased before insertion. @10:30 Aqualube is an excellent and not too pricey (green) lubricant designed for underwater use but extremely tacky which in itself is a valuable tool if no available chaulking. @13:00 temp drift pins help with this... Good video, thanks....I have to do this job soon. I am hoping to replace the bottom first with the top still attached and vice versa making door removal unnecessary.

There is a v shaped tool you have to use that compresses the spring for reinstall and I didn’t have it in this video

Where did you get those pin kits with the nice solid bushings? The kits from China sold by Napa and O’Reilly have crap bushings that break easily.

If you plan on doing this job yourself spend the couple bucks and buy a door spring tool. Makes reinstalling the spring super easy.

@s10life I just did the door pins on my 02 S10. Had to buy a new tool because I could not find the one I've had for over 20 years and used multiple times. My new one bent the first time I tried to use it. Ended up reinstalling the spring cave man style.

If they are the same as the front pins, you will be able to use Endurapins. But if not you can probably have your local parts store get you one

I completely forgot to add that into the video but go to your local parts store and rent a "door spring compressor tool" It will squeeze the spring tight and you set it in place, then you will loose it until the spring is holding itself in there.

If you're careful you can put the spring in a vice and wire it where it's compressed then cut the wire when it's lined up.

This job took me such a long time all for nothing. My door still won't close all the way unless I slam it really hard. I think my door latch is bad but does anyone know if there's a way to replace that?

It's probably sagging at the weld to the body. Common s10 issue. Sometimes the weld even cracks there

Hinge probably worn out. Lift the door as you close it. It'll save your door latch area, and won't chip the paint at the top.

You have to bend the bar inside the door. They stretch out over time from pulling the door handle and make the door hard to close and open
