Of the four videos I found for replacing the 2004-2006 Scion xB window regulator, this is by far the best and most thorough one. Two of the others started with the door panel already removed! The third video had all the steps, but the video was a little shaky and blurry at times, and the guy knifed through the vapor barrier instead of peeling it off. A few key points: 1. Definitely watch the video before attempting. I wrote down the steps as I watched the video, then had both my notes and the video handy while I was doing the job. 2. Inspect the new regulator assembly before starting the job to make sure you've got the correct one. There are different parts for left and right and for front and rear, plus you can get the regulator and motor each as separate parts or as a full assembly. 3. The hardest part is the step where you "carefully raise the window" after you've unbolted it from the regulator. It took me five or six tries. The window got within a few inches of the top and then fell off the cross rod every time. I think I ended up pulling it manually and holding it up while I taped it. 4. While inspecting the new regulator assembly, make sure the cross rod slides easily. Mine didn't, and I didn't notice until I had bolted in the four bolts. The cross rod didn't line up with the slots, and it wouldn't slide. There's a plastic piece that was jammed up in the end of the cross rod. I had to push on it really hard to release it, and when it released, I sliced my thumb open on the tabs. To avoid that, check the action of the cross rod and free it up if necessary *before* inserting the assembly into the door. 5. The vapor barrier would not re-stick. All of the black gunk was still on the door, leaving just the plastic sheet, but the plastic sheet wouldn't re-stick to the black gunk. I did the best I could, but I'm not sure how thoroughly it was stuck to begin with. 6. You don't need the drill-driver. You can do this with a ratchet. You do need the extension to get to the window mount through the small oval hole. 7. A plastic knife (like from restaurant take-out) works fairly well as a trim tool. 8. You can repurpose twist ties to tie off the excess wiring if you don't have zip ties. 9. While you've got the door apart, you can wipe off the dog hair and dust.

Great video! I got the actuator installed but my problem is that the window is not bonded to the tabs. I got them lined up as it went up. But now I can't bring it down and be sure it's going to be okay. So probably have to take it in. It might be hard to reach those tabs from inside the door and glue em.

With the panel off you should be able to just push it up

Right, but for me mine is slowly rolling up so I’m just going to change it but I would ask the same if it went out completely.
