Great video! Best tutorial for replacing the coolant system housing on the Internet. Two things to point out. One is the torque wrench specifications, for those who are not familiar with this tool. The video creator specified 71 inches pounds. There is a difference between foot pounds and inch pounds. Make sure to have the correct torque wrench or you could unknowingly overtighten the bolt and break the fastener or housing. If you don't have a torque wrench, two turns past snug will do. Second is the drain plug to drain the coolant is on passenger side of the car.

As someone who works behind a desk...I am fairly handy though this took me 50 minutes from start to finish. The video helps tremendously and Firestone charged me 350 bucks 2 years ago. And I was waiting for 2 and a half hours. I would recommend buying the hose clamp remover tool for 25 bucks if you don't have one. Love you mechanics posting these videos

Great video. I bought an upgraded aluminum version of this part. Would you still torque to 71 inch pounds even though it’s aluminum? I can’t decide whether that would make a difference.

Used your video yesterday as a step by step and it took all of 30 minutes time to replace this and had time to replace a headlight bulb as well before dark. Thanks a ton.

Tip. Either don't remove the tip off of the overflow hose and use it again or just go ahead and buy a new hose. The tip has a plastic insert and it breaks easily. Found out the hard way.

Very good demonstration. If you don't mind, what brand are your standard and remote hose clamp pliers? They are better than what I have.

I have a 2016 Chevy Cruze. This piece was broken and replaced it on my own watching this Vid. Before replacing it though, I was driving and had to pull over cause the check engine light came on that it was overheated. I discovered that the plastic piece itself was cracked, so I replaced it. After replacing it though, the car will not start :/ Any ideas on what the cause of this may be? The engine turns over, but won't start. Battery is good, car has gas. No idea on what it could be 😒

You don't have to purge the cooling system after? I've always done it, is it just a waste of time?

#TRQ please read to the end! Need advice. I've replaced the same part once, maybe twice. I just ordered one today but canceling it because I ordered the gasket instead because the gasket is broke. My only thing is, the surface of the motor that you cleaned off, it doesn't look even on my mom's car. Thinking I may need to put a straight edge on it and see if it's warped or not. Also, I didn't have a torque wrench so I may have either overtightened it or maybe didn't get it tight enough. I'll find out Thursday how it goes once the gasket comes in. It's always something with the car. I'll probably take a video of it running Thursday bc it's making a sound that I can't figure out. Could be due to me jacking the motor up once to work on the belt. Need some advice on it. 2015 cruze 1.4

Get the hose clamp pliers! Worth it for just this job, then you have them for every hose you pull.

Hey TRQ! Thanks for the video, made repairing my wife's 2011 cruze 110% easier watching your video. Only thing I'm seeing is there was a tiny bit of leaking around that last connection for the overflow that stopped once the system had pressure again, is that a cause for concern?
