Very good video on replacing the water pump, I did the same job on 2014 chevy cruze and replaced all the hoses too. I have a 2015 LT model of this car and I have figure out the issue, the manufacture (Chevrolet) uses plastic parts for the water pump and the thermostat housing! Its quite obvious that plastic components are not built to withstand the engines heat. This is why these two common parts fail on this car! I can't figure out why for the life of me, why the manufacture thought this was a good idea let a lone after doing some research , there are no known recalls for these parts for this car! Im guessing this was done to save Chevy money when building the car, these are common issues like I see in videos here all over YT reported by consumers! Shame on you Chevy!!!!!

What’s the flat rate on that btw? Did it in 1.75 thanks to your video. Have never wrenched on that car before. Just Harleys and SXS’s. Few suggestions though. Don’t need to pull the inner fender liner or the skid plate. Put a 2x4 block between the oil pan and skid plate and one on the bottom and you won’t damage it. Also easily got to the 3 bolts on the Mount to the block without taking the inner fender out.

There's an even easier way to do this job. Just drive it to your local Chevrolet Dealer. There's a G.M. factory recall on these cars for a faulty water pump. If your car has 150,000 miles or less and the car is 10 years old or newer, G. M. will fix it for free. You do not need to be the original owner. How easy is that!

@@angiedovalina1955 This is for ALL Chevrolet Cruze models with less than 150,000 miles and is 10 years old or newer. I agree with the upper hose being the biggest pain in the butt. We pulled driver wheel and fender liner. I layer under the car with a helper from the top to guide tool. What a crock. GM says to pull headlight and bumper to change that hose. What a terrible design for maintenance. These are great driving cars with cooling systems from hell. So much plastic and junky O rings. When it's working it's working good but that is far and few between. Once you get any sort of leak it is my recommendation to replace every hose and pump associated with the cooling system. Pro tip/change oil feed line to turbo every 50k. It's a short hose and it's only $30. It will save your turbo. They get caked up and reduce oil flow to cool turbo. Just do it, you will thank me when your turbo lasts forever Instead of 80-90k that is typical al of these. Super simple job right behind heat shield.

I just did this same repair to my car. No problems. Did not have to go under car & I didn't have to do half of these steps. I did appreciate the torque specs though, but then again you got yo be crazy to buy new bolts. They really put you through some hoops don't they. And don't tell me all the extra steps are necessary because I have brought my car to the mechanics lot of times in my life and 90% of the times they messed up my car worse than it was to begin with. That's probably because I only bring my car in when I really really really need help and by that time it's something that even mechanics are not able to do. Way too many extra steps. No wonder when I bring my car to a mechanic, the are some extra broken missing parts that had nothing to do with what I sent it in for.

I may have to replace my water pump if the dealership won't honor the TSB and I've already once reused my 6x engine mount bolts when doing another job on the car and no mention was made of the TTY bolts, though I do remember torquing them to spec (I can't remember or reference the video(s) I watched for those repairs). Actually a torque+angle spec does not indicate a fastener is torque to yield at all! Torque to yield is an engineering design specification. You simply cannot tell if a fastener will be yield based on the torque spec alone. You need to consider the size, length and material grade as well to determine if it will indeed be stressed into the yield region of the material. In this case it looks like a long stretchy M10 bolt and at 45 ft lbs + 60 deg, I would need to see some math to prove it is TTY.

Do you have the part number

All the part numbers and links for the parts are in the description. You have to hit the little drop-down arrow. Most the time is on the right hand side of the description. Depending on what device are looking on.

Squeeze clamps are trash, completely ruins the hoses over time.

Wow what a poor design and complicated repair. Heard these cars are atrocious. I would never buy any GM product other then their older trucks from early 2000s, or 1990s.

Nicholas R yeah I don’t think the quality is the same. I would buy the new C8 Corvette though.

WoW.. that Chevy is always a pain in everything. It is not easy to get to parts that you need to change. You have to remove a bunch of other parts. And at the end of all that.. it is not reliable nor durable

Too much-just change the pump !! good step by step, but are you going to charge a customer $1200to do for a water pump that’s really simple like an 1.5hrs to change all these hoses out and thermostat etc? Why

Agree, $200 worth of parts and 2 hours of work. And he didn't even replace the thermostat housing with the newer metal kind. I have 400k miles on my Cruze and my mechanic only charged me $800 to replaced pump, hoses, thermostat with metal housing and metal coolant water outlet.
