It is mandatory to torque the 6 bolts to the timing chain cover to 20nm AND in the right order (1 to 6, check WIS/ASRA). Your repair will leak again very soon, you create an imbalance in the stress of the oil filter housing gasket. I've worked on MB engines since about 40 years (15 at MB workshop) and one thing that I've learnt is to use a torque wrench on aluminium covers which you never do once in this video! Funny I did this very same operation last week on a CL216

I just did this job & was concerned about the order the entire time, yet never found info on it. 2nd time having housing off, 3rd time to seal oil cooler. 1st time I was fool enough to think I could only do the oil cooler gasket, failed in a yr. 2nd time I did both. This 3rd time, I did a new assembly due to oil cooler gasket leaking yet again. OFH gasket still looked fine, but could've not been. I did torque it very slowly & gradually, 1 bolt at a time applying pressure as evenly as possible, yet not sure how my order differs from what WIS says. Guess I'm losing some sleep tonight & eventually doing this f'ing job a 4th time. Literally no one anywhere mentions the correct order or what fails internally on these assemblies besides one vague post on the UK forum (I think) about a check value that fails.

You need ET12 & ET14 (enverted Torx) to remove those parts to change the gaskets for oil cooler. I did mine a month ago on my 2007 S550. It started to leak pretty bad.
