This video shows you how to install an engine oil pan on your 2008-2013 Honda Accord. The oil pan holds engine oil to be pumped up to the engine. A leaky or damaged oil pan will lead to low oil levels, or no oil at all, which can cause major damage to your vehicle's engine.
This repair was done on a 2010 Honda Accord LX-S 2.4L Coupe 2-Door FWD Manual and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2008 Honda Accord
2009 Honda Accord
2010 Honda Accord
2011 Honda Accord
2012 Honda Accord

Perfect instructions. Just did this on an 09’. Tried to removed the pan without raising the engine from the mount and was stuck. Shimmed the engine up same as shown and was the perfect amount of extra room I needed. Only difference, ‘09 2.4L has a cover on the inboard side right against the pan secured w/ 3 bolts that obstructed the r&r, I just loosened them, left it in place and gave me the clearance I needed. Used a gasket instead of rtv and no leaks. I had to pry more than shown but was not bad at all, harbor freight 5 dollar pry bar. Thanks for helping me save my niece hundreds. 🤙🏾

It’s a good video but you definitely don’t need to separate the motor mount. It’s a little tight but the pan does come out.

Great video. My niece broke off yer dipstick and of course the end fell down into the pan. Had it towed to our mechanic and he gave us a price of $600 to fix it. After watching your video I can understand why. What ever happened to the days when you just took 10 or twelve bolts off and dropped the pan?

Good video. I was able to use this on a 2009 Honda Accord. 2:57 Passenger side oil pan bolts Instead of the open box wrench to remove the (3) passenger side bolts, I was able to use a 1/4” 10mm short socket, 1/4” universal joint, and a 1/4” extension with an assistant guiding the short socket onto the bolts. While underneath the car, inserting the extension between the gap of the oil pan and the subframe. This way was faster than using a box wrench. And I was able to torque the 3 bolts properly with a torque wrench. Another thing that I ran into was the oil pan was difficult to remove on the driver’s side because of a metal plate held in place with (3) 10mm bolts. I loosened the bolts enough to maneuver the oil pan around the plate.

Did this job for the first time a few weeks ago tht wood block between the harmonic balancer and frame would have come in handy. Will be using it for upcoming job 👌🏾

Very detailed video 👍. Note that, some models with shifting cable goes under of the transmission. Just remove the cover held by 3 x 10mm bolts. And drop the pan from the transmission side. Also there 2 “guide pins”, don’t try to pry the pan off sideways. It must come down.

Excellent detailed video, I wish I could share my knowledge with people as well, but this takes time and appreciate you taking the time to do this and for sharing your knowledge. As a technician, this video is great for those that want to save some cash, the manual calls for 4 hours since it wants you to drop the subframe which can be avoided if your video is used.

The book calls for loosening all the mounts and jacking transmissions up and yanking axles. I wasnt going to do all of that because i'm not an engineer and as a result of not being an engineer I know better. Good job man.

I’m running into a problem where I have the oil pan unbolted but there’s not enough clearance to remove it because of interference from the frame. Lifting the engine might help but do you need to loosen any motor mounts in order to lift and shim the engine like you did?
@sainteris
@sainteris 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you have to loosen the mounts to lift the motor enough for the oil pan to clear. If you watch the video all the way through, he shows lifting the motor.

Honda actually prefers you to drop the engine from the vehicle to do this which is pretty crazy, I’m trying to seek my way around that hopefully I don’t run into any problems

I own a 2008 Honda Accord 2.4L. I was wondering how he easily got the pan installed with just a couple of taps because mine wouldn’t set in place. You have to remove the shift linkage cover, held on by three 10mm bolts. It’s located on the bottom of the transmission, my oil pan kept interfering with the cover on the transmission. Once I removed it, then I understood how he did it.

Was a step skipped? The middle bolt of the three bolts in front of the pan by the harmonic balancer is not reachable from underneath 4:30 mark in the video. I noticed the video cut off when a wrench was attempted to take it off and the video shows a socket taking it off from underneath. No way can I get a socket in there from the bottom that I can see. Car is 4 cylinder 2011 Honda Accord.

Hopefully somebody can respond, but a friend needs to replace hers on her 07 accord 2dr. For whatever reason tire discounters told her that only Honda is capable of replacing the oil pan. Am I missing something or is it as simple (relatively simple) as it is in this video?

From 4:36 to 5:36 camera is focused on where pan meets transmission. He then put the ratchet on the bolt that would drop that part down, looks like basically straight down. I, have a 09 Accord that I just completed a timing chain, all new sprockets, actuator, selenoid, spool valve assembly gaskets, etc..... However, 1 major struggle... The oil pan sits up a smidge higher and inside of a small lip on the trans case? It has the K24z3 2.4L v-tec and I for the life of me cannot get the oil pan to seat correctly. I know it sits in the lip, however closely almost exactly the one here, but by the markings it for sure was in there. Hard time getting it out, and avoiding dropping sub-frame at all costs. Any thoughts, anyone?

I finally got the pan off of my 2014 accord!!! had to take all 4 mounts off.. radiator hoses off, air filter off, ac compressor off , battery off heck i took literally almost everything off that connected to the engine because my pan was 6-8 inches deep , so i needed 6 inches of clearance!!! meaning I had to lift the engine 6 inches! Not fun!
@ogboost7610
@ogboost7610 Жыл бұрын
That how the 2003 accord is. Had to use a engine lift/cherry picker to lift up the engine and trans to the max. I can’t remember what I left connected but I stretched them as far as they could go without breaking them. Absolutely sucked crawling/rolling under the car with the legs of the engine lift in the way. I had to replace the oil pump chain tensioner two weeks after doing the timing chain. Had to take timing chain and everything out. Now I will not do this job for anybody unless they do the oil pump chain tensioner at the same time. I tell them they are looking the same labor as the timing chain only plus the extra to replace the oil pump chain tensioner

The clearance on the 2012 crv is different. The slight lift of the engine that is seen here will not work for a 2012 oil pan. After lifting the engine to its max it won’t come out.
