Thanks for that . Belts on my 1995 Toyota Tacoma 2.4 liter finally gave up, but it's the same set up. This video was extremely helpful. Was so much easier on 60s and 70s American vehicles (haha). I think I can whip this out comfortably now.

Thanks for leaving this comment here. A year later I'm doing the belts on this estate truck I bought, a '03. I was wondering if it was the same setup for the 2.4.

Thank you again, do you know how to change power brake vacuum booster in a 2000 toyota 4runner?
@jimthecarguy8 жыл бұрын
Here is the procedure.It sound like a hard job but it is very easy.If you need any advice just ask. REMOVAL 1.REMOVE MASTER CYLINDER 2.DISCONNECT VACUUM HOSE FROM BRAKE BOOSTER 3.REMOVE THESE PARTS: a.Return spring b.Clip and clevis pin c.Clevis 4.REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER a.Remove the 4 booster installation nuts. b.Remove the booster and gasket. INSTALLATION 1.INSTALL BRAKE BOOSTER a.Install the booster and a new gasket. b.Install the clevis to the operating rod. c.Install and torque the booster installation nuts. Torque: 14 Nm (145 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) d.Install the clevis pin into the clevis and brake pedal, and install the clip to the clevis pin. e.Install the pedal return spring. 2.ADJUST LENGTH OF BOOSTER PUSH ROD a.Install a new gasket on the master cylinder. b.Set the SST on the gasket, and lower the pin until its tip slightly touches the piston. SST 09737-00010 c.Turn the SST upside down, and set it on the booster. SST 09737-00010 d.Measure the clearance between the booster push rod and pin head (SST). Clearance: 0 mm (0 inch) e.Adjust the booster push rod length until the push rod lightly touches the pin head. 3.INSTALL MASTER CYLINDER 4.CONNECT VACUUM HOSE TO BRAKE BOOSTER 5.FILL BRAKE RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID AND BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM See: Brake Bleeding 6.CHECK FOR FLUID LEAKAGE 7.CHECK AND ADJUST BRAKE PEDAL See: Brake Pedal Assy\Testing and Inspection 8.DO OPERATIONAL CHECK

I am in the middle of changing my belts rights now. I loosened the alternator belt adjustment screws but the alternator will not budge! I tried pulling on the alternator itself and yanking on the belt but the damn thing will not move. Any ideas on what it could be?
@jimthecarguy9 жыл бұрын
Blake Caban Hi Blake, There should be a bolt 4:19 of the video and there is also another bolt 4:25 of the video and on the bottom of the alt. that you will need to remove to get out the alt.Good luck.Jim
@MainStaysTrashCan9 жыл бұрын
I am not trying to remove the alternator. Just get it to slide forward in order to remove the old belt and replace with a new one. But the alternator is acting as though it is seized in place. Why is this?
@jimthecarguy9 жыл бұрын
You need to loosen the 3 bolts in order to remove the fan belt.
@HaydenHancock09 жыл бұрын
+Blake Caban I am having the same issue. Were you able to resolve?
@MainStaysTrashCan9 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is a nut on the back of the bottom bolt that he doesn't mention. You will need to grab both simultaneously in order to actually loosen the bolt.

2000 4runner 3.4L is my third 4runner and I do most of the work myself. Unfortunately, the rusted adjusting bolt head on the A/C pulley broke off while loosening. What is the best way to replace that bolt? Thank you
@jimthecarguy8 жыл бұрын
If you can remove the bracket and spray it with rust buster let it sit for a little while and then try to remove the broken bolt.If that don't work you will need to replace the bracket

@sieve56 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify: this works on the 2.4L as well. I went to O'riley's auto parts, asked for a new alternator and belts. This video details exactly what you need to do. If the alternator is stuck just rock it back and forth and the bolt holding it in will come out.

Great video. I'm about to do the belts on mine it helped a lot. On average how long did this take u to do... Looks like you did no editing so I'm assuming 15 mins or so
@jimthecarguy8 жыл бұрын
+pentergraph I did a little editing on the video so it will take you around 1 hr to complete if all the bolts come out without a problem.Let me know how you do.
@pentergraph8 жыл бұрын
+jimthecarguy, once I had worked out what bolts were what it took 40mins, I found the hardest belt was the alternator as it only had so much give.
