I always learn from your videos Andy, I've been working on automobiles for a while, but its always nice to watch a vid from someone who has also turned a few wrenches in their time. Great vid, from beginning to end. Keep them coming.

This was an awesome video. Something about it captivated my attention the whole time. Oh and I hate captive rotors lol. I had to do rotors on a 90s Accord with this style rotor and although it's not that bad, it was definitely annoying. But the fact that you had the bearings to take care of too makes it even more tedious. Keep it up Andy! You're so close to 1k subs!

Great vid, Sir! I've been watching you since your vids from the Auto shop you posted but I didn't know you had your own channel until I saw this one. I have an '02 Xterra and when I came across this, I was like, I know that guy...lol.. Anyway, I just subscribed now. Good to see ya helping the Nissans stay on the road.

Why did you remove the inner wheel bearing the 2nd one? Couldnt you just leave it in?
@tyronesmith38128 ай бұрын
My bearings don't have play, but they do growl when I spin the wheel and can feel vibration on the strut spring. Should I replace them or can I just repack them?
@AndyTheXTech8 ай бұрын
Chances are you need to replace them. I would take them apart and reevaluate.

Hello. I'm a little confused, should there be two wire spring clips on top of the brake shoes that spread the pads away from rotor when not braking. My old pads had holes in the tops for these wire spring clips to go in. My new pads dont have the holes but came with the clips????? Thanks
@AndyTheXTech2 жыл бұрын
Yep you should contact the company that make the brake pads. There should be holes so you can put those springs in. Better to have the springs although the brakes should still operate normal without them. I think they will just help making the pads last longer. And probably quieter.

@AndyTheXTech2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what you mean by main wheel bearing. Yes this is where your front wheel bearings are. I hope that’s what your looking for.

How forgiving is this if i were to have it a little loose but try to correct after ? Do i have to worry about a bad job ? Would you say its crucial ?
@AndyTheXTech2 жыл бұрын
It is pretty forgiving the important part is the grease. I wouldn’t let it go too long.
@felipechuc1577 Жыл бұрын
Hey great video thanks Where did you buy that socket
@jusshupbb3 ай бұрын
You can get that socket pretty much any place that sells tools.. try harbor freight or a pawn shop
@seanmcc4428 ай бұрын
Mostly correct, however you need to clean the bearings and hub before packing and adding new grease. This is standard practice in all decent shops. Retired Certified Mechanic here.

So I’ve tackled this job a multitude of times and I can never quite get the wheel torque right so that it has no play. There’s always at least a little play at 12 and 6 o’clock on both front wheels, but weirdly not at 3 and 9 o’clock. On top of that I’ve seemingly gone through I don’t know how many warped rotors I’ve lost track. I’ve replaced my wheel bearings twice with Timken brand and no change. Went with Powerstop pads and rotors with the same results recently. I always grease slide pins and I have cleaned to perfection the caliper brackets where the pad ears mount. What’s going on? Can’t say for sure if my caliper pistons are applying equal pressure but the pistons seem to protrude equal amounts. Still doesn’t explain why my wheel bearings won’t loose the play.

Hey Andy, I have a 2001 Pathfinder with no crank no start. As soon as I open the door to get in the dash lights and tail lights start blinking. Any idea what could be causing this? I don't even know where to start.

Been following you for a bit even with your videos from your job...Question: is there a torque spec for the hub to rotor bolts? I'm currently doing a CV boot for passenger but I also need to do a steering Bellows. By anychance you might do that or is it very straight forward?
@AndyTheXTech3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for following. In the book the torque spec for the hub to disc bolts is 36 to 51 foot pounds. And the steering bellows should be pretty straightforward. Good luck! 😁👍

If you replace the front rotors you need to remove the hub and repack the bearings because the rotors are bolted from the back side.

Aside from the brakes being abnormal, the design of most other things is brilliant. The fact that they have a little drip tray/protector under the oil filter is absolutely genius.
