New Brake Pad & Rotor Kit from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ib/1ABFS04355
This video shows you how to install new front brake pads and rotors from TRQ on your 2011-2019 Ford Explorer. Brake pads wear out over time, much like tires, and need replacing, on average, every 50,000 miles, with variations depending on driving habits and environment. Brake rotors may also need to be replaced if they are warped or grooved. Often, it’s safer and more cost effective to replace pads and rotors at the same time. Squealing or grinding noises, or wheel vibration are all symptoms of worn brakes.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2011 Ford Explorer
2012 Ford Explorer
2013 Ford Explorer
2014 Ford Explorer
2015 Ford Explorer
2016 Ford Explorer
2017 Ford Explorer
2018 Ford Explorer
2019 Ford Explorer

Don't open the bleeder screw unless you're replacing the calipers and need to perform a system bleed. If the fluid system is sealed when you start and there is no dirty fluid in the reservoir, then how do you risk pushing dirty fluid back into the system? When this bleeder is open when you are compressing the pistons, you risk getting air into the system and causing issues. Her method may work but you don't always see or get the full story on why she opened the bleeder. Was it just to replace pads or was there some other issue? Videos are edited for time and to keep the instruction straight forward. Being a certified mechanic, I have replaced a lot of pads without opening the bleeder and have had zero issues. If you have to open the bleeder on the chance of pushing dirty fluid back into the system, then you most likely have dirty fluid already in the system and need to do a flush and fluid replacement. This is why the reservoir cap states to clean before removing to ensure no dirt enters the system. I have seen comments on this video and other video where the bleeder was opened while replacing pads and for whatever reason they introduced air into the system resulting in issues. Leave the dang bleeder closed folks.

You’re the first besides me I’ve seen not push the old fluid back into the system. Easy and thorough. Some don’t know the one person way to bleed brakes is open the bleeder and wait, and wait.

Thank you for posting this very good video. I would like to add just a few comments if I may. I would make sure I change gloves when I touch the brake pads after applying the copper grease to them to avoid having grease on the pads, and I would add a mention to carefully bed the new rotors and pads after installation. There are many videos to explain the procedure.

Can you push the dual caliber back one by one, or is preferred to do both at the same time ? Cause I hear a lot of different things

Why did you open the bleeder screw, since there can’t be more fluid than was needed when the breaks were first new. ?

Can you replace HD brakes with standard brakes? I’ve seen tons of different stuff on it but no real answers… HD because the tow package but I never do any towing or any big hauling trips. Does it really matter?

Couldn’t you just open the master cylinder and save yourself the headache of messing with fluid leaking out?
