I only had to pull off only half of the outer door weather shield , I did not completely remove it or speaker either. 2 years late, changing mine today. same noise, hold it & it unlocks. battery was draining randomly over a few weeks. pretty sure this is problem there. will update, got mine on Amazon. $$s tight with Covid19

great video this is the right way to do it, I think the fast way is do not remove speaker and I did not pull out the window glide after removing the two screws I pulled up and used a piece of wire to hold it up out of the way. I removed two of the three rod retainers I left the one going to the door handle on, you can feed it out with the old latch (drop latch straight down and it will feed right out) easier to remove and install on to the new latch I did this on the passenger side)

Good call on the speaker and mirror. Only need to disconnect them if for some reason you want to remove the entire door liner like in this video, which is not needed. Just peel back enough to get to the actuator.

Is their any way to test if it's the acurater without pulling it out my lock stays down randomly and then randomly works just curious to see if this is problem 100%

Great video. Would you know if the problem I'm having is the actuator? I am unable to pull the "knob" to the unlock position, causing the door to stay locked. To enter the vehicle, I have to open the rear door and reach forward and pull the handle open. I'd like to repair it myself but have no idea what to purchase prior to dismantling the door.

This is exactly what has happened to me yesterday. I'm doing the same opening the door procedure also. I reach from the back door to grab the handle and I'm able to open it. What was your fix? Thank you

The key fob wouldn't unlock the door. The manual key in the outside key hole wouldn't unlock the door. Only way I can get the door open is pulling the handle from the inside. But as soon as the door is opened, the lock latch goes right back to the lock position

My drivers door on my '06 ram 1500 quad cab will not turn on my dome light when open. Will this procedure fix that issue? I can not find a "typical" button/switch inside the door jamb that would actuate the dome light so I'm presuming that switch is located in the latch assembly. I can not find any reference to this on line so far. Thx in advance. p.s. my power locks do not activation this door (intermittently) or either of the the back doors (always). I presume this is tied to this procedure as well.

would the door lock actuator cause my automatic locks to constantly unlock my doors while i am driving? this just started 2 days ago, and it is getting worse and driving me crazy, seems to have started doing it mostly when i turned towards the right, but now it is nearly constantly doing it anytime i drive, sometimes now the doors wont lock, just stay unlocked?

This is also very similar to what is happening to me... When you start the truck and go to take off right as the gears switch from 1st to 2nd the doors will auto lock. Well my doors keep trying to auto lock constantly. I have to time it perfectly and push the manual lock button on the master switch to stop it from continuing to try to auto lock... What was your issue and what was the fix? Thank you

I did the replacement. All is connected and wired correctly, but when I push the control lock and unlock, it locks, but doesn’t unlock. I took it all apart and re did everything. The same issue exists with locking, but not unlocking. What should I do and/or what am I to look for?

That just happened to my 08 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab Lone Star Edition. When I set the alarm for the door locks nothing happens. The manual release doesn't work either. At the dealership they were going to charge me almost 1,800 bucks to do the job.

It turns out that the solenoid in the actuator is a weak link in the assy, just google it and you'll realize it has happened to thousands! Eventually you can risk what (almost) happened to me; if you leave the cab with engine idling you won't be able to enter the truck unless one of the windows are open or there is a passenger in the cab. If it occurs the driver door can only be opened via the inside door paddle handle !! Greetings from Indre Østlandet
