To avoid breaking the plastic plug, push in the center part of the plug, it will snap in about 1/8" and stay like that. Then the whole plug comes out without effort or breaking.

Yes I would also like to know the answer to the question about the mesh material on the inner door panels....can you replace just that material part or do you need to replace the whole door panel?

Is it possible to only replace the “felt-ish” cloth part? Or do you have to replace the entire panel?
