This might be the first KZbin comment I've ever left... This video saved me $500. The dealership wanted $586.64 (out-the-door price) to replace the regulator. Immediately the rip-off alarm started going off in my head, especially since I had already watched this video first and thought it looked like something I could do. Anyway, I found a new after-market part for $51.89 (including tax) and decided to do it myself. The entire install, from start-to-finish took me almost exactly two hours. A great use of my time seeing how it saved me over $500! Comments for anyone doing the install: 1. Plan on two to three hours unless you're a window-regulator-replacing savant. 2. As others have commented: The new motor rails probably aren't going to line up with the window when it's slid back down. You have to plug the windows controls back in AND the power cable to the light. I had my daughter help me with that part. I had to perform this "dance" twice in order to move the new motor rails to the exact position in order to attach the bolts to the window through the holes in the door. This is a great do-it-yourself project. You save a ton a money, need basic tools, and every step in the video is easy to perform. Now I get to go spend $500 on something fun!

Second time I’ve had to replace a regulator and A1 comes through again... clearest most thorough videos. Someone did mentions reattaching the light switch or the regulator will not work... I was midway and couldn’t get the window to move and thought I’d cry. Read the comment and plugged the door light in....saved!!!! Thanks for the great video and great parts!

When you need to raise the regulator up to bolt the glass to the track, you must reconnect all of the plugs back together, not just the ones to the switches even the one that goes to the door light. I found this out after an hour of cussing, and I even went to buy another regulator (didn’t buy it from y’all, I should have) thinking the one I got was defective, thanks to another persons comment on here I found this out. Love you guys videos! I changed all of my shocks and struts this past weekend thanks to your how to videos. Thanks for making these! I’m a fairly handy guy but some thing intimidate me and thanks you y’all a videos I’m not intimidated!

Great video! Followed along while replacing my motor and regulator. One tip… plug the power module and the window switches into the new regulator before install and using the original as a guide, press the up or down button and raise the bracket the attaches to the window to the same position as the original when you removed it. This should line up the holes with the holes in the door and make installing the bolts that attach to the window to the regulator much easier.

I am a "do it yourself" person. I have the tools and the skill to do things, but I don't always have the knowledge. Your videos give me the knowledge to work on my own automobiles. This is the second time I have used your videos to fix one of my automobiles. I have purchased replacement parts from your company both times. I have attempted jobs like this in the past without any assistance and have become very frustrated, often breaking parts and taking 10 times as long to accomplish because I did not have the knowledge of how things came apart and went back together. I even swore I would never attempt a self repair on one of my cars ever again. Your videos make it so easy to do the job myself easily in less than half the time without all the frustration of getting things wrong. Thank you for posting these videos. Please keep up the good work. I will always buy my parts from you if I use one of your videos to help me do the job myself.

Ideal video! Clear, simple and straightforward. Once started, it was like I'd done it a hundred times before, because you had covered every aspect and quirk. As a matter-of-fact, I did it much better than the knucklehead who had replaced it the time before me...thanks to you!👍👍 (One small surprise, though: the need to reattach all the connections INCLUDING THE COURTESY LIGHT CONNECTOR in order to maneuver the window lift bar into position to tighten the two window bolts...man, that's one self-righteous light bulb)

Used your tutorial today. Thank you for doing it. It saved me at least $150. It was very thorough and I appreciate you not skipping forward with quick editing like some do. One thing I will say for someone who might watch this is that if they want to test the regulator before putting it all back together, they must have the lower door light bulb connector plugged back in to the power module. Otherwise all windows will work fine except the drivers side. It will just do a clicking noise.
@mikebelskis26427 жыл бұрын
Stephen Walker thank you for posting that hint. I had to raise the regulator to line the window holes up and thought my new part was possibly defective since all I heard was the clicking. Holding door up to plug in the light was annoying as sin but it certainly did the trick! Thanks again Stephen Walker!!

So this is a HUGE IMPORTANT TIP everyone! I battled 2 days -- count 'em, 2 days -- before I happened to read on down and find this post. Stephen, thank you SO much for this tip. I actually considered that this might be the problem and then just failed to test the theory. I figured, no, that's for the lamp, has nothing to do with the window. How wrong I was! This probably means I also didn't need to purchase the L p/w Control Unit. But I don't feel like it's right to return it after having installed and fiddled with it a couple of days, so will keep it for a future emergency (and hope I don't have one).

Thanks for the great video. Helped me replace the regulator on 2006 Pilot. The only thing that was not covered by the video was that my window was stuck at the top, so I had to use a flat 10mm wrench to unscrew the window bolts. Successfully installed a new PW Regulator in my 2005 Honda Pilot driver side door. KEY piece in addition to this wonderful video: in order to test the new part or adjust the new regulator to sync with window for fastening one MUST connect to the door panel light in order to power the PW control. Everything else in the video guide is gold.

Thank you for this. I live in Dubai and the garage wanted $350 labour charges to do this. I shipped the unit in from the US also saving me a bucket of money. I did the job in 75 minutes thanks to following your instructions.

Agree that this is a great video for the job, so thanks! The hardest part for me was adjusting the window so I could attach it to the new regulator. The holes didn't line up, so I had to plug up the lower light bulb connector [and hence hold the entire door panel] and the window switch unit. Then I operated the switch to move the window a small amount, unplugged everything, and looked to see if the holes line up. That was repeated 4 times, because it's not as easy as you'd think! Now all is good, so I'm happy.

Great video, thank you. I replaced the Window Regulator, connected it, but the motor is not working. However, that black box Control Module makes some light clicking sound when push the window button on the switch panel. Is it possible that this module needs to be replaced as well? Or it has nothing to do with the regulator motor and I received a faulty regulator motor assembly? I also checked the power window fuse in the main block and driver side power window fuse in the block on the passenger side. Those are fine.

Thanks for covering how to do this. Another thing I learned- I hit a roadblock while doing mine which was stuck in the up position. Though most people have to cut the cable to do this, I was able to use a ratchet straight wrench to get the bolts off (I was unable to cut the cable). I got the bolts off the window, unbolted the regulator and motor from the door and it still wouldn't budge. Silly me realized that I had to take the top left bolt holding the regulator to the door all the way off since the window was up, there was no room to use the oblong hole to slide the bolt off without unscrewing it. I'm sad to say it took me about 30 minutes to figure out that I just had to take the bolt all the way out, but when I did the whole assembly slid out no issues.

I’m doing this myself as I can’t afford what the deal quoted me. I’m in the process of doing this now and ran into the same problem. Can’t figure it out to get the window down. I plugged everything back in without the panel just to make sure it is the window and the switches are all working for all other things. I can feel the cable and pull it to see it, but there are two cables. How do I know which one is the right now to drop the window? But now I’m wondering if the problem could be the modulator box instead? I’d hate to cut the cable and find out that wasn’t the problem.

Also note to anyone doing this job, for whatever reason if you remove the bulb from the door panel and forget to put it back in, the regulator will not work. Took me a while to figure that one out. Job was done but it still would not work. Saw I forgot to reinstall the bulb and just like that it was working fine. That was several years ago and I’m off to replace it again cuz it broke last night
@michaelklein5924 жыл бұрын
Had 2 learning curves I'd like to share. First after replacing the regulator the driver window still would not budge. What a pain when you have to reach in blind to unscrew the 2 window bolts. All the other windows worked fine. The trick was there was one more cable that I thought was unrelated to the driver's window controls. Apparently it completes a circuit for the driver window only. Found that out by putting everything back together and taping the window up because I ran of time for the day. Hit the button and could hear the motor running up and down. Next day took off the door panel and it was dead again. Grrrr..... Connected everything as if I was going to attach the door panel and it worked. The gray cable connection is about 6" away from the arm rest towards the bottom rear of the door. Second thing I experienced was the window would bind about 4-5" from the top. I tried shifting the window forward, nope, shifting it back, still no better. My wife noticed the top of the window was not aligned with the vertical rubber track. Unbolted the 2 screws holding the window to the regulator and slide the glass into the vertical rubber groove at the front of the door. Reattached the 2 screws and it worked like a charm.

+Ivan Soto Yeah, it sounds like maybe your regulator hasn't snapped, and it's maybe just the motor that's bad? You could cut the regulator wire so you can manually adjust the window. In addition to the excellent point about connecting everything to use the window switch... what if your window won't budge at all and is down in the door itself, and the switch won't work? Plus, when you try to push it up manually, it keeps getting stuck? The answer is easy: it's probably caught in the cable of the bad harness, so just snip one of the bad harness wires and it will free the window. I will post a video that shows this.

Take the window switch panel out after removing the trim panel and three upper screws so they don’t fall down in the door if you drop them.

Anyone have issue getting the auto function of the window to roll up and down after install? I followed the owners manual to no avail. Window goes up and down, just not automatically like it once did.

Okay, this video MISSES something HUGE in the installation process. If you want to move the regulator up into position so you can screw the two bolts into the bottom of the window assembly YOU MUST reconnect the harness for the curtsey light on the door panel in addition to the three harnesses on the window controls. For some reason, the power for the driver's window regulator is routed through the courtesy light harness. Otherwise, you will just hear a clicking sound in the control unit and the regulator motor won't work. I know someone else pointed this out, but it is important enough to say again. Otherwise, this was a great video.

I have a 2004 and my regulator is back against the door jamb, not the middle of the door as your shows. Don't understand the discrepancy.
