Just a little tip I have found useful. Use a C-Clamp to hold your miter box stationary when sawing. Prevents the "jumping" around.

1) removing my old weather strips was a BEAR. Contractor had used some super gripping nails and it was very hard to pull the strip off. Had to use a vice grip and large pry bar to remove the nails after the strip came off 2) I'd recommend using stainless steel nails. My old strips were attached with galvanized nails and they were pretty rusted. 3) Why not paint the wood before installing the new strips? 4) I had caulk sealing the outside of the strip so I scored it with a utlity knife in order to get a clean break when removing the old strip. 5) I used an oscilating tool to cut the new strip to size.
