The reason these fail is a)the "plug" loop part of the element IS the actual END of the element. It gets insanely hot, And b) The plug body (apparently ALL of them now) are made of Bakelite and all come from China. This is even so on the OEM part bags. Bakelite(phenolformaldehyde) is over a hundred years old and isn't heat-proof, but is so for a few years, depending. Nonetheless, they're NOT going to make this simple plastic block of ANY of the high-temp plastics available. Not when they sell this so so many people. Since they mineral-fill Bakelite to improve various mechanical properties, it's likely the Chinese's fucking around with the mix is the reason for different batches lasting different amounts of time. I'm replacing one that's five years old. The one before that lasted fifteen.

It is better not to have aluminum foil as shown in the video under the element. May be the reason to short /burn the receptacle. just my opinion.
