Yeah, you make it look so easy but how to do the low beam if the cap is STUCK?

Just wiggle the cap a few times (left-right-left-right), may take a minute or two but eventually it will come loose. To make it easier on your hands use a towel to do so.

Excellent tutorial, thank you! If you are doing the driver side low beam that is the hardest one because of the box directly behind the headlamp. If you have small hands it might be easier but I have big hands and it was not easy!

Yes you are correct. I was able to do it since I have smaller hands and I was only able to get my hand in there, it wasn't possible to get the camera in there and my hand in there at the same time.

The only real tip is to use a rag or towel to grip the cover and undo it. I remember when I did the first time, I thought I was going to break something, because it just wouldn't come off and it was hard on my palm. I then grabbed a towel and used that to twist it and eventually it came off. It's not the most accessible place and the moisture that's there doesn't make it easy either.

Ofcourse you can replace the low beam lights 9005 Halogens with 9005 LED. If you want to replace the high beams as well please ensure it's the right size as mentioned in the video description as the low beam and high beam lights are different. Unfortunately I don't know of any specific tools you could use for this job. Putting a towel on the cap and forcing the cap, left, right, left, right for a few minutes should make it easier to come off and be easier on your hands as well.

I used a small flat head screwdriver and small hammer. With some light taps, it was off in less than five seconds

Tip for taking off the covers on each light: use a flat head screwdriver and a small hammer to twist off/on the caps. I was trying to remove them with just my bare hands for like 20 minutes. Even tried using a crescent wrench. Ended up damaging one of the fins and both my thumbs. Then I switched to a flat head and hammer, it was off in like three seconds 😑

Apply alternating force, left --> right --> left ---> right, and keep at it for a few minutes, it should come off eventually. I know it sounds like a hassle but unfortunately sometimes it just gets stuck.

Twist it left and right. Use a towel to do it so it doesn't hurt your palms.

I added silicone grease to those cap gaskets, protects that rubber O"ring and eases removing that cap. If you don't, that 65 watt bulb will bake on that cap and you will never get it off. You need a good seal, bulb heats the the air inside the assembly and if any leaks our, creates a vacuum that sucks in moisture when it cool down. A wet inside housing sure blocks the light output. Sylvania XtraVision's cost a few cents more and are 30% more brighter and also last a long time, I average about 8-9 years and do a lot of night driving. Carry spare bulbs in the trunk and a flash light just in case. Also carry spares for all running lights such as parking, directional, and license plate. Need a 10 mm nutdriver for the rear tail lamps. That can also use silicone on that front rubber seal to make it easier to pull out. If you replace your lamps with other than what your owners manual calls for, you are accepting the liability and may not even be covered by that other guys insurance company that hit you. Crooks will do anything to avoid a claim.

I use SuperLube Synthetic Grease with PTFE. It's a bit less nasty than silicone but provides the same long-lasting slickness you need for apps like this.

Engine Size difference should not make that difference, country of production would. Regulations differ from country to country and that may result in certain lights being placed in different positions. May I ask which country is your car manufactured for ?

I had a friend ask me how to change the bulbs in his 2017 Elantra. I wasn't sure for the new cars (retired as a mechanic in 1985 with a back problem) so I used my KZbinFu to find you. As we talked, I found your vid online and sent it to him. He'll try it himself instead of letting a mechanic charge him a lot for it. // On my 2007 Tundra, I had to move the battery 2" backward for the driver side high beam. and move the washer tank to get the passenger side done. Only took half an hour, but a PITA.

Try the trick I showed in the video, using the key as a lever or try using your hand to wiggle the cap left and right and then eventually after a few minutes it should come off.. overtime the cap gets stuck cause of moisture and other elements. Good luck!

I found my way! With a small stilson (because the driver side is not as easy as the copilot!) I grabbed on one of the lid dents and slowly moved it back and forth not to break it. Then I prayed it out with a screw driver

Try using the key trick I show in the video. Try applying force in an alternating direction. Left, right, left. That should loosen it up a little. Hopefully this helps.

Not that I can think of. The ridges on the cap are designed to be twisted off by hand, but over time due to moisture it ends of getting stuck hard. Sorry. Often when I work on cars it can take upwards of 3-4 mins of just applying force left-right-left-right to get it loose. It's frustrating I know. but I can't think of any other method right now. :(

My 2017 Tucson doesn't have that Black plastic case the bulb is in to twist out? It looks like it is attached to the inside some how. Its very deep inside the hole. I unplugged the harness from the bulb to get a better view and there is no black bulb harness to twist out. Am I going crazy? Can you help me out?

Good video . The drivers side low beam bulb is a biatch to get out , very little hand room , do-able but barely and i don't have big mitts. Also the black cover only turns a little bit probably less than 1/8th of a full rotation

Pro tip: if the headlight guard on the driver side is stuck, just take a flathead and a crescent wrench and start beating it out of there

In the dashboard, go to settings, go to lock, there is an option for 'Horn feedback'. Press on it , that would turn the horn back on when you lock the doors. Try it out. Hopefully it helps.

The first step in my manual says to disconnect the negative connection on the battery. Was that done?

Disconnecting the negative connection on the battery when doing any electrical work is always a good idea. Also that black clip at the base of the bulb you mentioned is an adapter. It is very likely removable.

Virar Technologies ,, I appreciate it .. though i called the dealer this morning and they offered to replace both headlights since they are covered by the warranty .. anyway I suspect the internal led chip is doing this and most likely a factory defect.
