The new cable was improperly installed in this video. The tension spring should have been installed on the passenger side of the retaining clip, the way it was when it was removed.

This has the potential to create slack after a lever pull and allow the cable to pop out of the retainer creating a situation where the hood wont release. I hope they add a revision to this video. Looks like 9000+ people used this as reference. I wonder how many followed it verbatim and reinstalled the spring wrong. I know I did.

Why at the beginning when you first disconnect the cable, the spring was on the barb end of the cable. When you reconnected the new cable the spring was toward the sleeve end? I just did this job and my original spring was also on the barb end, when connecting the new cable I referenced this video and connected it on the sleeve end, while scratching my head thinking it didnt come apart this way. Re-watching this video from the beginning I now have doubts if I installed it properly.

Wondering what harness is that plugged in at 9:40? Completed this task of my hood cable and latch did the spring on latch side of cable same way as the video pulled back, also for some reason my brakes felt mushy at the end of this task I also work completed my audio system and ran a 14awg through the fire wall

Recently just bought an 04 S10 from the original owner. It's overall in great shape but it's got it's quirks like this and the 3rd door handle being broken. Thank you so much for bringing this info in such a presentable, charismatic way. My background is in tech repair so I'm good with my hands, but only know the very basics of automotive repair. You guys rock and the presentation quality is the best. Will be buying parts from you guys to support this when needed.
