By far one of the most in-depth, best instructional Corvette videos on the internet. Thank you.

Getting ready to change my water pump in a day or so. Looks easy enough, not a hard core mechanic but I think I can handle this . Great instructions on your video will come in handy. Congrats on the new vette , a nice looking ride for sure. Just wished it had a standard trans. But I can see myself wiyh one oneday soon reguardless of trans. Enjoy your ride.

So, this video was very informative on basic process for removal and replacement. Just to add to it I found that removing the throttle body gave you tons more room to work in this area. Four screws and a couple of connectors and it's out of the way. A must do if replacing the water pump.

When you put the new 160 thermostat in the water pump did you have to apply a little pressure on the housing to get it flush against the water pump?

Im here in Sep.2024 looking for that OEM thermostat 🤣👌🏽

I actually saw this video because I'm doing the same job tomorrow on my 08 C6 and I ordered an extra one thinking the housing came without it. If you still need it I'll send it.

Did you have any problems with coolant not going down from the surge tank?? Please need help!
@HookedOnVettes4 жыл бұрын
Robert Munoz are you referring to post install or before install when trying to drain the coolant initially?
@Robmunoz104 жыл бұрын
HookedOnVettes have already installed a new pump therm and hoses but now it’s not flowing right. Drove home got up in temp then got home shut it off tried took the cap off coolant was hot so some came out of filler neck. Let cool down then tried it again went to redline and then I shut it off. Now I don’t know if that much heat stopped the thermostat or what. I mean with the old parts it was just had a leak so had to keep refilling that’s why I changed everything. So I don’t know why it’s not going down now.

Robert Munoz sounds like you may have an air pocket. Suggest letting car cool down completely. Draining entire system the. Follow my instructions in the video around 28 min into the video.

why did you change to 160 thermostat? Why not permatex on the gasket? (maybe showing my age)

Are you still in the SA area? Do you still own the C6? I see one around occasionally. I have a Lemans Blue w/z51, getting ready to replace my water pump. Very organized video, very helpful!

Hi Fred and Happy New Year. Unfortunately, I no longer have MERRCA... in anticipation of ordering the C8. The C6 is, however, still in the SA area, now with the license plate ALLUMS... if you ever see her, wave! Hope the video helps you, as I'd never changed a water pump, but found it quite easy... even though a bit time consuming.

Why did you remove the original thermostat from the new water pump?
@HookedOnVettes5 жыл бұрын
I wanted to replace it with a 160 degree thermo. So I removed the 190 degree thermo that came with the water pump.
@falconator34195 жыл бұрын
HookedOnVettes why would you deviate from installing the original manufactured thermostat?
@HookedOnVettes5 жыл бұрын
I want the engine to run cooler when I track it. It runs 190-210 w the 160 thermo on the track whereas w the 190, it reaches 225 plus.

HookedOnVettes thanks for the info. In just want to get the facts right before installing after market parts inside my Vette other than the original designs intended by the manufacturer. Specially when these parts are engine components.
