I’ve done that before with an iPhone SE '20. Had an aftermarket flex cable lying around for an iPhone 8, pulled the connector out of it and installed it onto the SE '20's. Working fine to this day 😊

Awesome stuff and great instructional technique on the soldering and pads, managing the heat and not melting the other components. Why didn’t you use the heat shield tape, I’ve seen others using it and I’m just starting my micro-soldering journey. I’m building up the courage to start and gaining insight into the techniques and by far your videos are awesome. I don’t have a hot air station just a heat gun, and a smaller pen like heating unit, and a cheap soldering pen with heat control on the handle. Should I just wait for my new hot air soldering station to come in! Kinda simple or funny questions I might be asking… so I’m kinda reaching here, reaching for guidance. Thank you in advance for your time.

Man. I'm all about the level of perfection involved with this, but with the high quality of the premium flex replacements I just can't convince myself to do this. Maybe if Apple someday starts to pair the charging flex to the motherboard then this will be invaluable

You better know to do that because you’ll need, one day, just like I did need.

Soldering is fine and all but by the time you do all this a new port could’ve been installed.

not related but I just (unsuccessfully) tried putting iPhone 12 screen IC chip on IC CHIP made to receive Mobile Sentrix screen. EVERYTHING looks easier in videos, because PROS are making the videos. IF your not a pro, then you need PRACTICE
