best DIY video on this fix hands down... just watched half a dozen vids before this one and since im an alternator and starter rebuilder im very familiar with taking your time, saving screw placement, marking your place , etc. and i bought just a digitizer and screen glass and i gotta tell ya, Andrew is 100% right at the very beginning of the video. You are saving zero dollars by bullshitting with all that cause I just 20 minutes ago destroyed an LCD screen by trying to separate them. I went to amazon for my OEM assembly and it cost me under 20 dollars and its overnight shipping so,Thanks Andrew for your time and video. If only i found this video sooner!

I replaced the digitizer touch screen with a good one from my old iPhone 4s that has a fried logic board. It was a bit of hack and a retrofit because I moved the good screen from a spent iPhone 4s to a working iPhone 4 with a cracked screen. I was sure it would never work again after I put it all back together but it works fine. Your video above helped me to relax and not get stressed out about doing the repair. Now my daughter thinks I have proven myself competent enough to replace the digitizer on her iPod Touch 4th Gen. I purchased a iPod Touch 4th Gen Digitizer replacement kit for 16 US dollars. Thanks again for posting the best how to video on the Internet.

Thank you! I feel proud of myself for doing my first ever diy repair on a phone, and it was all because of your excellent tutorial. I watched it all the way through first, to make sure I thought I could do it. Then I ordered a screen/tools from Amazon for about $15. Then I dove in! It took me a couple of hours (and a headlamp and reading glasses, haha), but it went totally smoothly. It really helped that you gave detailed instructions, and the drawings of the phone, where you set the screws, were a lifesaver. A nice side effect is that my kids think their mom is pretty awesome now.

as a non-tech person, i can't believe i just fixed my daughter's iPhone 4s with this super awesome video tutorial. my eyes are not great, and i must have missed a couple steps because i have 3 screws left, but it works! thanks!

Thank you soooooo much! it took my dad and I 3 hours to replace the screen but my phone is up and running perfect again. the only step that you missed when you were putting the phone back together, was replacing the screw under the black tape that holds the camera contact in place. Great instructions though! very easy to follow and understand! my advise to anyone replacing a screen is to watch a step by step video like this one and not try to read instructions off a site. it gets way too confusing when you're reading them. Again Thank you for making this video!

Hi Andrew! Thank you so much for taking a tremendous amount of time to make a great video! It was easy to follow, no annoying music, focus with camera was very good and I could see the small pieces displayed in the phone. It was very very helpful, and I was successful with my 4s. I also liked your other video for the iPhone 5. Thanks again!

Thanks for this! it was a great help. A little gold piece fell out and i forgot where it went and now the power button at the top doesn't work so i think it could be related to that. I'm glad my screen is fixed though. Thanks!
@alishab68099 жыл бұрын
+Travis Livingston the gold piece at the top that fell out is a power contact. that would be why your power button isn't working now. mine fell out too when i was replacing the screen. thankfully my dad and i noticed it and looked it up online to see where it went.

why in the world would you skip at 8:35 and cut back to a point which you had already removed the two screws that hold the motherboard down without saying anything about it... i almost broke my motherboard because i thought it was ready to be taken out... turns out the tool kit doesnt even have a tool for these screws, so I myself am screwed. (Pun heavily intended)

The approximate dimensions are 3.3mm long x 2.5mmwide x 1.0mm thick and it appeared to have remnants of adhesive on one side. I could not find where it came from although it may have been in the area of the charging socket, could you give me some guidence please?Regards

Will this work for the iPhone 4 also?
@johnrichardson5448 жыл бұрын
At the moment, I can't explain the reason for this, but at about 8:15 in your video, you mention the removal of a "little metal retaining clip" (which I removed from my phone). Once I had removed everything else that you said to remove, you then easily removed the logic board, which I then tried to do, but couldn't. Baffled by this, I then took a further look (using a magnifier) at the area where I removed that "little metal retaining clip", and there is actually ANOTHER goldy looking piece of metal, which I had to carefully pry up, which revealed a hidden large screw (you can use a flatblade with). Once THAT was undone, the board then comes out. You video isn't sharp enough for me to be able to tell, but I'm guessing that for some reason, that screw was missing from your particular handset (possibly due to a prior repair)? Any thoughts on that?

Hi there, Thanks for putting up this perfect video. Could you kindly advise me a solution? I had recently open the phone because a simcard could not come out, and that's all I wanted to do. So I took off as far as the silver chasis (not the chipboard) and got the simcard out. Then I put everything in place and just after to find out that the screen display does not turn on -- the backlight turns on (when receiving messages, getting out of standby mode), the call works, the sound works, etc.

I was trying to help a friend of mine fixing her broken screen. By the model printed on the back, I thought it was an Iphone 4. Happened to be a 4S. I first saw your video on how to replace the screen on the Iphone 4, cause it did not look the same as the one I was fixing... I just tried to figure out how to take it apart. Long story short... I have three little lose golden pieces. I cannot figure out where they belong to. I saw this video and I did not see anything coming apart from the Iphone with those characteristics. Do you have and idea where they probably belong to? They are I suppose just contacts. They are golden little pieces.. Please help!

Hello, I have a question that is not really about replacing the display, but from where you buy it. You said you bought it from amazon and I tried that too. I found a lot of products but in the title there was something like "Screen LCD Assembly for White Apple iPhone 4S (for AT&T/Verizon/Sprint iPhone)". Does the carrier matter? I'm from Europe but all I find in my country are displays that cost more than 50$ so I wanted something cheaper. We don't have at&t, verizon or sprint so I wondered if this was a problem.
@jacobb407710 жыл бұрын
from what i understand, the carrier does matter, because some of the clips are in different positions depending on the carrier
