is there any problem with replacing the screen without disconnecting the battery?

You have to be very careful and precise when connecting the video connector, some pins carry voltage even when computer is off, so you can't fiddle with the connector much. LCDs are hot-swappable parts, can even be changed when computer is running. If you want to be extra safe, sure, you can disconnect the battery, but you also have to be very careful with its connector.

Can I replace the hp 830 g6 touchscreen with a non touchscreen?

Just tried. The touchscreen generally uses a 40 pin connector and the non touchscreen is 30 pins, so at least for the 840 G6, no.

@@zacha28 have you tried replacing the cable to 40/30 pins? I have non-touchscreen with 40/30 pins cable (40 pins for motherboard connector on one end to 30 pins connector for the screen on the other end).

I think you should be able to if you get the right 40to30 pins cable. I googled that 30 pins drive full HD screen itself and extra 10 pins for touch signals. However, you need all 40 pins for UHD 4K screen. I have disassembled my laptop to confirm. Given all 840 G6 models have 40 pins on the motherboard my humble guess is that it is all down to the two cable options: 40to30 pins (which I have for non-touch and non-4K screens) and 40to40 pins (which you have for touch and 4K screens).

So I did replace the screen at the end. It is possible to replace touchscreen with non-touch or 4K. You just need a right cable for the job.

Its for picking at the sticky tape at the connector, not shown in the video, it can be difficult to get a hold of the edge.
