Hello. I have this laptop for around a year now but recently it has developed a weird white spot on the screen (pixels glow intensely around this small area). This is persistent even in BIOS. Do you know what caused this? I can get it replaced but I wish to know what caused this as this gets covered under ADP (accidental damage protection). I use it with extreme care. Thanks.

Not a very common defect. If it isn't a weird sort of crack, it could be a pressure-spot, where the screen didn't get cracked but was pushed on by something pointy too hard. Or a dead-bright-pixel blob, which is even less common. But in any case, an LCD would have to be replaced if it is damaged, no way to fix such concerns on the original LCD. Maybe you could snap a picture and send to support at laptopscreen.com, for more certainty.

Can a non touch panel unit be upgraded to a touch panel screen or is the cable connection different
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 3 күн бұрын
The cable is definitely different for a touch-screen panel. It will have 40-pins (instead of 30), 10 of which are reserved for USB or I2C communication with the in-board digitizer on the LCD panel. If a particular computer came with either touch or non-touch options, it's likely possible to replace a 30-pin non-touch cable with a 40-pin touch cable from a similar laptop, because the motherboard-side of the cable will likely be the same.

I ordered a new screen from your webiste for my asus rog strix g15 2022 and it came with adhisive glue on the bezel and i pryed it off should I apply a new adhisive glue to the bezel to prevent back light bleed or will this not make any diffrence and does it need replacing? note im not talking about the screen i know it requiers adhsive strips, but im addressing the glue when closing the bezel and clicking it into place thank you.
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 5 күн бұрын
The bezel adhesive doesn't help with backlight bleed, if anything it hurts it, because back-light bleed shows up when the bezel is pushing too hard on the edges of the LCD. It's nice to have, but its not imperative.

This video has saved me once again. This is the second time my youngest has broken his screen. This time the white lead came off the battery connector and wouldn't go back on. I ended up soldering it in place, a fiddly task complicated by poor sight.

I have a model that has 60Hz display. However, I know that other products of the same model have 120Hz display. Is it possible to replace a 60Hz display for a 120Hz display?
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 11 күн бұрын
Yes, but you would also need a different LCD cable. The 120Hz uses 40-pin on the LCD side, you have a 30-pin cable, and most likely the cables are all the same on the motherboard side.

Thank you for this video! I just ordered a screen for my M17 R4 and it looks pretty similar to this. My M17 R4 intermediately won’t turn on screen with diagnostic light code 2-7, looked it up to see what it meant and calls for screen replacement.
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 11 күн бұрын
My friend, you'd better order an LCD cable as well. If the LCD isn't cracked, there are few things that can go wrong with it. The diagnostic code can indicate both problem with cable or problem with LCD. We had to wait for 2 weeks for a replacement LCD cable on this video, because it broke just from looking at it.

hello, i did this and the new screen doesn't display anything. tried to reconnect the old one (which was working but I wanted to replace it because of two nicks on it) and it works fine so i'm pretty sure I didn't damage the laptop's cables or anything it's just the new screen who doesn't work and i'm wondering what the problem could be
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 10 күн бұрын
Possibly a manufacturer's white list - a software lock in BIOS that doesn't let the new LCD turn on because 'reasons'. An upgraded screen will likely work, like a 165Hz, click Upgrade Options: www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/MSI/KATANA~GF66~11SC~SERIES/

@@Laptopscreen thank you but i happened to fix the problem already - apparently with the force it took me to remove the screen I bent a little the metal above the pins of the ribbon cable so I guess it wasn't stable. I used the plastic pick to fix it straightening the piece and it's been working flawlessly so far 🤞 thanks for the tutorial !

It's a favor to the next tech who might be working on the computer as it is much easier to pull adhesive from the top. Some laptops point it to the top and some to the bottom, and after working on them, pointing it to the top is a much nicer way to mount an LCD for the next guy who may be dismounting it.

It is for screens, as those are what we have on hand. When it comes to laptops with multiple concerns, it quickly becomes uneconomical to have a technician deal with it, as laptops are generally affordable nowadays, so the final price could come up to what a mid range brand-new one would cost.

Perfect tutorial. Changed my brother's broken screen with an OEM one. But the only problems I had were the battery cable rod doesn't seem to clear the little plastic piece on the holder and it broke it off. The battery cable still holds tight. But maybe if I had something extremely thin I could have pried that bar out to make it clear.. but it doesn't seem like it there was like no give there. And also I don't know if it was my bits but the 2 black screws on the long monitor assembly piece wanted to strip unless I used a T5. That was scary but I got it to work

Do you rally need double side electrical tape. Or would any double sided thin tape do. Also why does the official service guide say you have to do much more to remove this?
@Laptopscreen

Any double sided tape will do, we're not using electrical tape. The hardware maintenance manual says to remove the display assembly before clawing out the LCD because it is based off the internal recycling/disassembly guide.

It's possible to change the LCD video cable coming from the motherboard to the LCD. Similar computers have released with multiple display options, some requiring 30-pin cables and some 40-pin cables. If a laptop was released with both types of cables, you can interchange the cables to swap the display options.
