Have you had the lighting control module replaced under recall yet? The grand marquis just hit 223,000 miles, or just under 400,000 kilometers, on my way through Atlanta and that's when it decided to fail. I bet it has some broken solder joints because a few taps on it will cause the lights to work but as soon as I use a turn signal, they flicker and stop again. Had to drive with my high beams held on all the way back from Florida during the night time part of the trip. Gots an appointment Tuesday to have it replaced at the fjord stealership, free of charge. No expiration on that particular recall.

Thanks for bringing this up Panther. Since 2014 I've received 3 letters from Ford instructing me to bring my 2004 Vic in to complete this recall. The original letter said warranty coverage for this specific recall would be extended to 15 years from the original date of sale, or 250K miles whichever occurred first. Each time I tried to take it in, they said they were waiting on the parts to perform the recall. I've been dealing with the same service writer since I bought the car back in 2009, so I kind of almost trust him. He informed me, if I don't have any issues with LCM or headlight issues to not have the recall done. He wouldn't say it, but he inferred that the techs doing the recall were having trouble completing them properly. Well my car just turned 15 years old, so I guess I won't be getting a free LCM. But it looks like I got one of the good ones, that doesn't need to be replaced. But if you say there's no expiration on this recall, that's even better. Chuck

Thanks guys for the heads up! GrandMa is 15 and just recently started giving me issues with the high beams! I’ll check with the dealer this morning and follow up in a future video!

@@PanzerPlatform No problem. I figured mine had escaped a bad batch too because it's never had any issues, like those that plague less fortunate model years, but it is possible that something inside broke due to the combination of miles driven over terrible roads and the competition grade sound system that makes my eyes wobble. My 03 crown Vic only has 70k miles but it squeaks and rattles and I had to replace a bunch of parts that are still good on the grand Marquis with three times the miles. I saw a replacement module for sale online that doesn't require the removal of the original. It's designed to plug into the harness in such a way that it can be placed next to the original and zip tied into place. I'm going to be parking it for the winter soon and driving my 95 town car since it's already accustomed to driving in salt. Going to replace the brake lines with that new fangled copper nickel alloy for ease of installation and it won't rust out again. Surprisingly, the fuel lines are all stainless. I was certain that I'd have to replace those too but they are pristine. See you around.

@@OldeCarrGuy Sweet. I got the first recall notice but not the second which states when the replacements will be available. When it failed, it affected the low beams, cornering lights, and high beams. I can still toggle the multifunction switch toward me to flash them, but they won't come on when toggled away from me. I'm excited for your Grandma. I know how much I love mine. It's at the top of my list of reasons why I'm so grateful to be alive.

A dear friend of mine is looking to sell his father in laws 2008 Grand Marquis LS with 76,000 miles for $4000.00 to me. It's in mint condition and garaged kept all its life. Fully loaded and all leather too. Is it a good deal or not. Its located on the jersey shore in N.J. & I live in TN. ? I love your video's. My name is John.

Hey John! Condition is everything! As long as it’s not beat up or rusty, $4k seems like a very reasonable price for an 08 with that kind of mileage. Hope it works out for you!

My 2004 Crown Vic was not a P71 [ civilian edition ] . I bought a 07 x-RCMP car for $350 that the owner had blown out the transmission . The 3:56 locking rear end and HD drive shaft were put in the 04 .. Really wakes up the car on acceleration and mileage hardly suffered , And in the winter with a bit of snow on the roads the snow tires will actually work . The bean counters at Ford really screw up . Every one of those cars sold in Canada and the northern half of USA should have had as standard equipment a cold weather package , Heated Seats , Heated Steering Wheel and Locking Differential .. the cruise control does not display a engaged signal in the dash . I discovered that was a $5 option that was not installed in the car .. hard to believe .. Will do the rear bulb up grade !

The corner light bulb or lights itself when does this get use or when do they come on and what it it used for? I like them because I cannot see the curb median sometimes while driving at night especially when I'm heading for work. I almost hit the curb median a few time and it pisses me off when that happens. I bought the corner light MGM or Marauder (2003-2004) panel because I like the way do look and I know it will fit on my 05 CVLX Sport, but I will need the harness because my CV does not come with the extra harness for the corner light or bulb; however, I believe they do for the P71's. Any suggestions on how to find that extra harness or do I simply need to focus on an entire harness either for a MGM or Marauder or look for one on the P71 model for the harness? This can be confusing when searching for information or answers. Thank you.
@OldeCarrGuy4 жыл бұрын
It is possible that you may not be able to make it work as the cornering light comes on with a signal from the lighting control module. The CV may not be capable of making that happen. However, if you find out otherwise, you are likely looking to replace the underhood harness from a MGM.
@chrisislas18384 жыл бұрын
@@OldeCarrGuy Indeed, at least for the moment Ill settle for the looks of it. I have the darker black with the amber reflector panel and the black headlight housing which all looks nice for the contrast, but the version I want and do have actually, looks better. I saw a vid and the guy did the reverse, so it obviously a preference.

Never heard of hyperflash before. What is it?
@mrjoshua69795 жыл бұрын
Winnipeg Car Life it’s where LEDs flash on and off faster then we can see with eye most time but you’ll see cameras pick it up where it looks kinda like a strobe. The cheaper the led and hardware the more pronounced it will be. If you look at end of video it looks like his headlights and the far right taillight have just a tad of it
@OldeCarrGuy5 жыл бұрын
Hyper flash is actually a term used when your turn signal flasher flashes LEDs twice as fast as a regular bulb. Kinda like a newer car when you blow a bulb in the front and the rear build flashes faster! LEDs labeled as “canbus” will eliminate hyper flash!
