How to replace mini halogen light bulb

This video shows how to access a light bulb in recessed lighting with a gimbal or directional light feature. There are brackets holding the unit in the ceiling rather than springs. Sometimes the paint will make it stick.

It's almost comical how ridiculously difficult various manufacturers have made the simple changing of a small bulb. I have watched a lot of these videos, and none of them have helped yet.

In my rental apartment half the fitting have been replaced by long lasting LED ones that don't need replacing for a long time, and when they don't you get a whole new fixture. I wish they jsut replace them all at once, as inevitably one is always flicking.

Great video, although be warned some of these have clips and are very painful if they catch your finger. I learned the hard way after the landlord told us to replace them ourselves the next job is draining the washing machine, will be sure to take the light bulbs with me when leaving . 😂

I can pull the trim down and out of the can to change the bi-pin bulb but the assembly won’t go back in and stay in. Is there a trick to securing it back on the can?

Our whole cans come out on a couple - we can’t get the inner unit to detach, despite pushing those little side tabs. They’re in a kitchen so maybe the grease has caused some sticking? Anyone else have this issue also?

I have these lights. Currently fighting with the ones in my bathroom. Converting them to LED so hopefully I wont have to deal with them for 10 years +. I have these in my kitchen and other bath and was able to pop them loose, but not the master bath...yet.

LED GU10s don't last long because they get too hot. GU10s should honestly be banned. This kind of stuff is why some people are still using incandescent bulbs.

after dislodging the fixture, cut the wires, throw it in the trash, buy a new fixture WITH REMOVABLE LIGHTBULBS, install it, and tell the old one to fuck itself

Good point, next time I should twist the bulb a quarter turn and actually swap it out. Good news is these bulbs last a while.
