Thank you for this video. I have the same kind of door and was wondering how to pull down my spring from the door and attach it to the bracket when I saw in your video that I was doing it backwards. The trick is to attach it to the bottom bracket first and then pull it up and hook it onto the door. That simple tip was very helpful. So, once again, thank you.

@@garagedoorrepairlasvegasby614what about a P328 single spring replacement video? I couldn't pull that spring down at all. Is there a special technique or tool for that?

I have a question on spring length. I commonly see 28",30" and 32" I know the wire thickness 5,7,9 determines strength and how much weight the springs will lift. How do you pick the correct length of spring? My scenario - a rental property with 6 doors, All doors are original and I'm finding 4 spring lengths. My guess is the repair people use what they have and make it work... How to you pick the correct length? Any advantage to a longer or shorter spring? thanks

Springs vary by diameter, length, and gauge. A longer spring means nothing. You need all three parameters to assess the lift capability of a spring. For you to know what spring you need, you need to know how much the door weighs. So you have to either weigh the door, or talk to a professional her knows the weight from experience without weighing. Or get a lot of different Springs and try to see what works

thanks for the video! i have this same setup. quick question; ours has 2 springs like the ones you just used, and the other side has a thicker spring. can i put in the thinner springs on both sides?
@garagedoorrepairlasvegasby6143 жыл бұрын
You need to have the same force on each side of the door arm. If you use a different spring on each side, it will work. But the door won’t operate smoothly as one side will be faster/slower to close it open.

I have to replace my springs...but my old ones are p728c.... Can I use p728. I can t seem to find the springs that have the letter c
@garagedoorrepairlasvegasby614 Жыл бұрын
hello. should be ok. P and C refer to the attachment style of the spring. more important is to get the correct gauge 7/28. you probably will need to get different attachments separately

How do I know what size spring i need? My old garage door has 2 p728c on each side, 2 spring have snapped in half (one on each side). I'm wondering if the previous owner put the wrong size spring...
@garagedoorrepairlasvegasby6148 ай бұрын
you would have to weigh the door in order to know what spring to use. Or put the same as what you have. look up p728c that’s a spring code

My garage door is flying open… won’t go up all the way because it’s too loose but won’t stay closed and comes flying open because it’s also too tight. Can anyone help?

Figured it out. Had to adjust the bolts so the door had less leverage.
