Just did this today with the help of your video. My truck went to the dealer for timing cover reseal at 60k miles and I do not have that foam insulation piece anymore, so I didn’t have much to loosen or remove. I removed the PCV with just my hand on a couple extensions and a 22mm socket. 73k miles and still rattled like the new one I put in. Keeping the old one for a spare.

I just did this and your right, they’re fragile! I ordered the same one on Amazon and installed it today. As i was tightening it down it snapped into… i didn’t even start to torque it down yet. It didn’t take much lol. So I had to get a 3/8 extractor and cut off about a half inch for it to fit to remove the broken half with the threads. Pretty easy though, and i just put the factory one back in after I cleaned it. I’ll probably replace it sometime soon. Great informative videos and a great channel man!👌🏻

Question. I can hear an electric arch type buzzing that seems to come from this area. The Toyota service writer blew it off saying that sound is the purge valve and normal. I saw another 3rd gen owner with a video of the exact sound who said he changed the PCV and the sound went away for a while and then started again. So, I guess the question is would the PCV make that type of sound if it were starting to fail?

@TheBser97 it was infact the PCV Valve. My taco is a 2017 v6 4x4 Limited w/83k miles. I asked TST to change it and was given the 'do you have a check eng light, misfire etc run around. I told the Tech no, none of that but service interval is at least 20k miles ago so I want it changed and I don't like the noise it is making. New one installed, truck actually runs better imo and I can definitely still hear the pcv working BUT it sounds like a very quiet vacuum now rather than an electric arch buzz. I didn't request the part back so I can't say for sure but I am guessing it was on its last leg based on the operating sound different.
