Why wouldn't you just detach the fan shroud and leave it so you can just pull the radiator out without detaching the fan clutch?

This is a very well produced video, all "meat and potatoes," no wasted time. I didn't have to toggle back and forth between this and Minesweeper while some "expert" jabbered and rummaged about for tools. Well done, Brian!

Wow you’re probably one of the best KZbinrs on installing & uninstalling parts that I’ve ever seen. You’re very thorough and giving direction on where you are on the vehicle helps out a lot for people trying to DYI my question I have a 2008 Tundra had alternator replaced ($650)😩 thought that would solve the issue of temperature gauge rising when I take a grade and...he (Jester) the name of my Tundra🤣🤣 likes to spit out fluid? so now I’m thinking it’s got to be the thermostat? am I right? The temp only rises when I take a grade on a hill soon but as I get down the hill temp goes to normal never heats up just on the daily drive (45 min to work) only when I go up a steep grade... any thoughts?

Very nicely done vid. I just need to replace the thermostat and this is very helpful. Very tight spot, so I’ll probably remove the fan clutch and shroud to open up more space.

Watched your video a few times. Excellent! I do want to remove and replace the lower hose and thermostat housing on my 2007 Tundra 5.7. I see where the overflow container is touched to the shroud. How can I remove just the overflow container to make more room to get to the thermostat? Thank you.

Hi Brian..I have a 08 tundra v8 5.7..I just finished the water pump, thermostat, belt and tensioner etc..when finished I noticed leaking. Looked over my work and no leaks from water pump..turns out my damm radiator started leaking from the seals all of a sudden. New Rad cap also, Sankei oem... Seems like such a coincidence..sometimes these things happen like this..I ve been working on cars for 30 plus years and you never stop learning. Even the most basic work sometimes humbles you. My question to you Brain as a professional mechanic after 12 years do radiators just crap out like this, when you do a lot of work to the car. ?? Coincidence or Maybe some mistake.. I did this job on my own truck 6 years ago also so not my first time..have a great one new sub!!

I'm camping on our way here on a steep hill I felt something wrong I pulled over and the truck got hot can it be the fan clutch or thermostat? After it cooled I put antifreeze and didn't happen again radiator is not leaking . Frustrating the he'll out me in supposed to be relaxing 😒. Not till I get home ..

I’ve got a 2015 tundra 5.7 and the coolant doesn’t circulate in the radiator. Runs at normal temp and the heater works. I ran it pretty hard today and a lot of my coolant came out of my overflow. Checked the rad cap and it was in pieces. Got everything out of the rad from the cap I thought but the coolant still isn’t circulating? What could cause this? I have no coolant in my oil either and tuns fine so don’t think it’s a head gasket

Is radiator removal necessary to only replace the thermostat? It seems like a tight squeeze but I would hate to lose all that coolant since I just had a flush done.

Question I live in california I feel as if the radiator hose feels hotter than normal , should I look into replacing the fan clutch ,or the thermostat? I believe it's the stock one . Also since I live in a hot area Should ireplace the radiator nothing is wrong with it just wondering since we pull a travel trailer should I put a new one ?

Is it necessary to drain the coolant from both sides of the block ?
@creigmacc
@creigmacc 4 жыл бұрын
For this job not really. If you're doing a complete coolant change I would drain the passenger side of the block. When I did mine I also drained the drivers side, about a 1/4 cup came out, not work the effort.
