Thanks for the video. The brakes on my 2018 S-Max were slightly different. It has electric parking brake. I used Forscan to put the brakes into service mode (choc wheels first!). This retracts the piston but I still needed to push it back a bit further with a G-Clamp (no big force required). Otherwise I only needed a 7mm hex for the pins and 15mm socket for the bracket bolts. The outer pads (Pagid) came with a 3M adhesive pad attached. Needed to clean the bracket and remove the backing tape before fitting.

Thank you so much for sharing this very useful video. I have been following you for over a year now and have learnt so much from your tutorial videos. Is there a chance you can post a video on how to replace a rear spring coil on on a galaxy. Thank you once again.

Happy to help Jay! Unfortunately at the moment I only make videos when something actually needs to be done to the car. That Galaxy belongs to my taxi driving friend, I don't think we'll have time for experiments. However in the future, I'm planning to do more comprehensive videos.

How can you tell it's time to change the discs? I am about to change the pads on my Ford Galaxy 2.0 and my discs look pretty much the same as the ones from your video. Not sure how long ago it was done as I bought the car recently and I don't think there history about discs being changed. If there is, it must have been some time ago. I have noticed that when braking hard, I can hear a noise which is coming from the front brakes. Could this be a sign that the discs also need changing? Also, your videos are really helpful, I am going for my second job on this car after being encouraged to also do the brake bleeding after watching your videos. So, thanks a lot!

Hi Jeff, the reasons I would consider to change discs: - they are worn out and there's a sticking out edge on the outside - I get vibration when braking on high speed. - Any other signs of being worn out. Squeaking noise could be just pads.. As far as I know, officially there's a minimum thickness. I don't know it - I just go by feel.

@@wawayltd @WheelsAndMotors Great! I think it's time to change the discs then. I do get the sticking out edge on the outside and some vibration when braking(front only). Would it be ok to change the front first and rear at a different time? Also, do I need to bleed the brakes when finishing the job? Thank you
@wawayltd4 жыл бұрын
You don't have to change rear brakes same time as fronts. Change rear when they actually need it. In that video I have done unnecessary thing, which is disconnecting brake fluid line. Most people (including me) just push caliper piston back without disconnecting it from brake line (little hose that brings brake fluid into caliper). If you don't do that, there's no need to bleed the brakes. Just keep an eye on fluid level in reservoir.

Please tell me what brake pads did you use, length and breadth, and tell me what brake pads to use on the front wheel pads, i have ford galaxy s max 2009

You can use any brand you like, but make sure that it's the same type, as it can vary even for the same make/model/year

Any idea why my handbrake was perfect before I had my disks and pads changed on my 2007 galaxy but don't hold sometimes after they were changed? They've adjusted the handbrake but it still rolls back after being parked up on the hill outside my house.
@wawayltd2 жыл бұрын
I think handbrake needs to be readjusted properly..

I can't get my disc out through the bracket, the disc is free moving, but it just doesn't come out as the bracket is in the way. I can't get the bracket bolt undone either
@wawayltd2 жыл бұрын
In this case the only way is to remove bracket... Breaker bar?
@neil24702 жыл бұрын
@@wawayltd yeah had to loosen the bracket, which was a right pain as those bolts were right! And they kept rounding off

@wawayltd4 жыл бұрын
It doesn't have to be whole lot, you can get little more or less universal tool, sold widely in part/tool shops, it should do the job... or, if you're not in a hurry you can get full set on eBay for cheap.
