It's slightly different on a manual mk7 gti because the access is reduced to the two screws. I had to use a small Allen key for the bottom screw to loosen. Then used a 5.5m hex. @@wawayltd

Most likely would have figured it out on my own but then it would have cost me a week or two😂 did you notice a high pitch sound for one or two second when you start the car? I have noticed it now once on twice, lets see if it is persistent

@wawayltd it did both times xD the only thing is how long will it last this time. Last time it was about a year roughly. I've another issue now that I can't address. My idle is perfect to start with, and after a bit of driving, it goes up to 1000rpm and stays there. Eventually it will drop back to ~800rpm. But it will go back to 1000 again soon after. I have seen people mentioning PCV valve, but I couldn't find anything visibly wrong around my engine that I'd relate to it. Any ideas, advices?
@wawayltdКүн бұрын
If you have DPF, normally idle goes up to 1000 during regeneration.
@theshockbroКүн бұрын
@wawayltd yes that's how it used to do it when it needed regeneration. But now it will start on 800 and as soon as temp gets midway to working temp idle will be 1000. And it won't go down no matter what. It can happen that it goes down to 800 for few minutes and then it will go back to 1000. I'll have to connect vagcom and see if it shows anything.

I don't know the stats on that, sorry. However, if any of those ""stop coolant leak" liquids were used, it can clog up the coolant side of it.

Torques. Front caliper mounting bolts should be tighten to 200Nm and it is recommended they are replaced (Haynes S-max, Galaxy 2006-15). Front caliper guide bolts 28Nm My thoughts, use at your own risk. The mounting bolts are NOT tightened a further 90 degrees which implies they are not stretched, however they are coated with blue? thread lock. From working with ford vehicles, any bolt that comes with thread lock pre applied is recommended replaced by Ford so you get fresh thread lock (easier for their mechanics I guess and they aren’t paying it so win win for Ford). Myself, I clean and inspect each bolt and use again with fresh blue thread lock applied and at recommended torque. Blue thread lock is designed to hold when in use, however break free for maintenance. I would NOT using an anti seize grease (copper ease) on these bolts which then a) make them harder to torque correctly b) makes it easer for them to work loose. Don’t get me wrong, i like wheelsandmotors, i’d just do that part differently for the reasons given. My thoughts, i own them, as every day is an opportunity to learn. Loving the videos, thanks for sharing.

As I don't have a garage, nor a hard and flat surface it's a job I will hand over to a shop(it's also winter now...). I'm just watching this video to see how involved this job is so I can get a feel for what amount of man hours is reasonable for this kind of job. It's really hard to know if a shop is screwing you over or not when they give you a quote on the labour part in terms of man hours because it's just a guestimate. My car is a Scout 2016 so it's a 2L engine and the shop are going to charge for 5 man hours of labour.

Hi, great video. On a 2.0 TDI when do you recommend changing the cambelt and water pump? I've got a 2.0 TDI Seat Leon 2018 with 46k miles on it.
@wawayltd16 күн бұрын
Hello, the manufacturer recommends 140k miles or 5 years, whichever comes first. I think it needs to be done. One thing, maybe don't support the engine by jack as I did, try to use something that holds it from the top.

@@wawayltd Thanks for your reply, not sure what you mean "align the wheels" can you explain . cheers
@wawayltd19 күн бұрын
Even though I left steering rack attached to column and wheels, steering rack sits on the subframe. When subframe goes back, there is a bit of play, so it won't sit exactly the same way. Therefore wheel alignment, a.k.a tracking needs to be checked and realigned if necessary.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Any coding or resetting required?
@wawayltd25 күн бұрын
You're welcome 😎 There are a couple of issues: Your windows and, if you have electric doors, doors may forget they starting points and stop working automatically. But that's temporarily, it goes back to normal after some time. The other issue - any new battery should be coded into car with start-stop technology. Eventually, your start-stop technology can stop working, as it doesn't know how many cycles it has done and what type of battery. Ideally, it should be updated with the scanner that can do it.

@wawayltd25 күн бұрын
You're welcome, Stephen! One thing I did wrong with my cambelt videos - I believe the engine needs to be supported from the top, not by jack from the bottom. There is a risk of sump developing oil leak after all the pressure.
@Stephenpikeman25 күн бұрын
@@wawayltd I supported mine from the bottom. Other KZbinrs show same so I went with it. I'll know when I do a service next year if there has been a leak. Cheers. Guess one more tool I need to buy. Can open up a garage at this rate lol. Stephen
