Finally, someone explains the adjuster! Very difficult to remove the rotor on the e-brake 🤦‍♂️. Thank you for explaining that problem! 😉

Do you have a video on adjusting the parking brake on a 2005 highander? The parking brake is not completely holding on a hill while in N and brake pedal off but I'm not sure if this is an adjustment on the actual rear brakes, a turnbuckle on cable under the car, or adjusting nut on the actual parking brake pedal/cable.

Great vid... thanks for explaining how the rear rotor can hang up due to a rust ridge inside the rotor catching on the parking brake shoes. I never understood what was going on there in the other vids I've seen.

One of the best videos!!! Shows all the hardship that actually happens. One thing would be good to mention is to make sure the park brake is not engaged. Lot of rust...must be a eastern or northern car :-) Need to use Silicon grease on those slide pin, as other greases/mineral will desolve the rubber....So I have read. One more note...The opening for that gear wheel adjust is the indent curved section, not the large round holes. That way the screw driver can get on the gear easy and turn it in both directions. I noticed you used the large hole. Easier with rotor off, but with rotor, you want the indent to be lined up with the wheel. For that much rust and age, you should check for any water in the brake fluid, as you may need to bleed it out and replace.
@IncandescentDaD
@IncandescentDaD 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but this is not correct. I tried to use the indented curved section for the adjustment hole but the hole faces a solid surface. The 1AAuto video is right. He even shows that not all the big holes are correct, only certain ones. I know because I did this job just an hour ago.

Very helpful. Would have been clueless on why my rear rotor would not come out. Would have never guessed the parking brake thing and the little adjuster through the little hole. Saved me a ton of guessing and frustration.

You don't really need to do all this, but it's a good video if you really wanna deep clean, especially if someone used too much greese before haha. I just did this, all I did was take the caliper off, take the brakes off and put the new brakes on. Very easy and simple job.

Caliper slide pins....they aren't the same. The one you put in the bottom is missing the rubber sleeve that goes on the tip. When you removed the old ones, you didn't show which one came from the top or the bottom. How do you know which guide pin/bolt goes on the top & which goes on the bottom?

I have an AWD model. You need to put the vehicle in neutral. Then the wheels will spin. But first, put blocks in front of and behind a wheel that is on the ground to prevent it from rolling should it fall off the jack.

One should ALWAYS use a "Six-sided" box or socket on the caliper and bracket bolts to avoid rounding the bolts. NEVER resort to vise-grips!

Great video and explanation. I trick i learned for wheels rusted to the hub is loosen the lug nuts just slightly and drive the car for a block or so. The road vibration will knock them loose. Upstate ny vehicles have this problem due to the salt in the winter.
