Excellent description. Thank you for including details like where the parking brake adjustment is located, compressing the piston, and pumping the brake at the end. Those details are critical!

Is it safe to compress the brake piston back in like this or do you have to open the bleeder valve?
@big28hunter322 жыл бұрын
Just compress piston caliper if you open bleeder then you'll have to bleed the brakes

Thank you for making the video. I replaced the pads and rotors on my wife's 2015 Tucson 2.4L AWD. Same exact install except the pads are about 1/4" smaller, different slider clips and no pad springs.

You forgot to do is open the main cylinder so the pressure can release properly

When compressing the caliper I'd recommend using one of the old pads to push on.

Love the video ! How come you didn’t bleed the brakes ? Is it something you do when you change pads and rotors ?

Helpful tip, sorry if it’s not here already, or if I missed it, but if the back rear rotor is stuck, and you can’t hammer it off, disengage the parking brake

The brakes on my Hyundai 2014 do not look like this. I had ordered from Amazon (brake kit-discs and pads) (was from Detroit Axle) and they not match the brakes on my car. The front discs (rotors) were about 11" in diameter but my original discs (rotors) were 12" in diameter. The front disc pads, that I received, had square slots and not the square protrusions, that was needed to fit into the square slots on the caliper housing. The leaf springs didn't look the same as the originals, either. The new pads (the smaller ones for the rear) had the same problem as the front (ie: slots on the pads when I needed protrusions on them that would fit into the square slots on the caliper assemblies)! I went to the local parts store and had the one front right disc machined because it was badly scored. All of the other discs were very smooth and didn't need machining. I bought the disc pads, as well, and installed them all. Now, I must say that this video does not appear to match the 2014 Hundai Tucson. It does say 2016...so...??? I found the front brake disc and pads were very easy to replace. The rear ones were a bit different and harder to get to. To remove the caliper assembly mounting bolts...one of them, in order to get to it, you have to disconnect the rod, at the caliper end, that goes toward the center of the car, so you can get to the caliper mounting bolt in a recess in the caliper assembly. You don't have to remove it at the other end...you can just move the nearest end just a bit to the side to get to the bolt! I've never replaced brake pads or discs before so it's been "an experience", lol!! But, I did save several hundred bucks...maybe more...you know how they are when you take it to mechanics!!! I took it for a test drive and it works great!

Great information video one thing on my 2020 Tucson the caliper piston is totally different. There are two notches in it. Those notches have to be lined up with the brake pad which has a little steel pin sticking out of it, to be able to put the caliper back in.

Can I just replace the brake pads without taking the caliper bracket and the rotor out? I don't have all the tools you have, such as torque racket to know what 43-foot pounds is

Incredible the rust, oxide, in brake parts for a car that is barely new. Is that the inevitable destination of cars that are in the coast?

My rotors don't come off that easily. Have to spin the park brake shoe adjuster in every time. Even then sometimes it still won't come off.

When compressing the cylinder, is it not best to take the reservoir cap off ?
@joshuaclark57963 жыл бұрын
The reservoir should breath; if it didn't breath, then it would constantly create negative pressure in the system.
@jameselwell67373 жыл бұрын
Cracking open the lid for air to escape should be all that's required, but as the gentleman said, the cap is vented. Cracking the lid allows air to vent a little more quickly. Of course, also keep an eye on the fluid level so as not to overflow the reservoir when you retract the piston back into the caliper.
