This video shows you how to install rear shocks on your 2011-2019 Ford Explorer. Shock absorbers help your vehicle stay stable and safe. Signs of worn out shocks are knocking or bumping noises, loose handling, or a bouncy or bumpy ride. The typical service life of a shock absorber is 50,000 miles, depending on conditions. TRQ shocks and struts are engineered to fit your vehicle perfectly.
This repair was done on a 2015 Ford Explorer Sport 3.5L Sport Utility 4-Door AWD Automatic and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:

Thanks for the video very nicely explained. You said 18 mm when removing but 17mm when installing the top of the strut. Could you tell me which one you meant.

The original shock has the nut for the bottom mounting bolt welded to the shock. Why can’t I find a replacement with that? All the replacement shocks send the bolt with! Is it a cost thing to weld them on?
