Does the 2011 Honda Civic DX have rear sway bar links?
@jasonbilyeu9129 Жыл бұрын
Followed the instructions in the video. I promptly encountered the issues/problems they predicted. I used everything from Vice Grips to a cut-off tool, but it took me about an hour to get the passenger side replaced. Before I tried the driver's side, I sprayed rust penetrating oil on the threads and used a cone wire wheel attachment for my drill to clean the rust off the exposed threads. It took me maybe 10 minutes to replace the driver's side - total. I really appreciate the videos, but they have a vehicle lift. Of all the people I know who work on their own stuff, only one guy ever had a vehicle lift in his garage. I'm using jacks and jack stands.

My brain instantly went to if you can put the vice grips on and go at it with an impact and save all the drama hahahahaha

Thx for the video, was pretty helpful. My sway bar links were so rusted I couldn’t even get an Allen key on to loosen then bolts, so resorted to angle-grinding them off 😆 Not too tough of a job, but takes time with all the rust.

Hi, I followed your video to replace the driver's side rear sway bar link. It was actually broken. The issue in the repair for me was the large amount of rust. I got the nut with attached washer to turn a few threads on each of the bolts of the link, but then could not turn it further to remove it from the bolt. i ended up stripping the hex socket. Maybe, I should have wire brushed the bolt more to remove more of the rust or used a rust remover chemical other than WD 40. So, I ended up cutting the bolt off using a reciprocating saw at a location between the other washer that is attached to bolt and the sway bar aperture. It took a while but it worked. Soon, I am going to replace the rear sway bar link on the passenger's side. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks for the video. Also, how do you use those locking pliers? I tried to use them but they could hold the bolt tight enough.

Are the rear sway bar links the same as the fronts? For a hoda civic lx 2008?
@1AAuto5 жыл бұрын
These are not the same for the front and rear. The correct parts for the fronts for your vehicle is: 1ASFK02849. Thanks for watching! +Clett Caban

So they affect side to side sway? so that issue will be fixed, but what about creaking. As I am coming to a stop there is creaking in my rear end . I brought to get my oil changed and they said that maybe what the creaking is from but they are not sure.

I just replaced these and it was somewhat difficult lol. I had to use both a grinder and a sawzall to remove these bolts. Once they were just about cut off I used a punch and a claw hammer to hit them through

The best piece of advice I can give anyone is please lube the threads of your bolts and nuts before installation. It makes removing them easier next time.

How do you know that the one that you are replacing is bad? I have a 2013 civic, and when the left rear wheel, goes over bumps, there is a rattling and clunking sound. I recently replaced the original shocks, with new ones, and everything is tightly fastened. I have put the rear end of the car on ramps, so that the full weight of the vehicle is on the suspension, and I tried to twist it, to see if it's loose or broken, and I can't move it. When looking at the mounting position, the ends, where they are bolted in, seem to be twisted slightly more than what the bracket is positioned. The driver side, has a more pronounced twist in the bottom, than that of the passenger side. Is this twist normal, for a vehicle that is 9 years old, or do they need to be replaced? Anybody able to answer this?

you thought about replacing the control arms?
@lilbigGerm2 жыл бұрын
or the ball joints?
@lilbigGerm2 жыл бұрын
hopefully you have it fixed by now but those are my thoughts

Yeah I’d say it could be the link or the control arms

Try moving the link or sway bar back and forth also to see if it has slack

How do I know if my sway bar is damaged or which to change? I changed both struts but car is still bouncy
@marcusb7544 жыл бұрын
James sway bars do not affect bounce. Sway bars control side to side / roll. Inspect the entire suspension system starting with your front and rear shocks and struts. Look for leaking or damage. My test is to push down hard on the front and back to see if I get any play or bounce. I hope this helps you.

Will this almost sound like a flat tire and feel like your suspension is bottoming out

If live anywhere that gets snow, just loosen them a little and then Sawzall those bolts off. I was 1 of 4 the way he showed this.

The sway bar link 1A auto sent me doesn’t have the hex key opening. Once I started to tighten the new link it’s turning on me and I have no way to counter hold it without damaging the rubber boot. What’s up with that 1A

How often should these be replaced?
@1AAuto6 жыл бұрын
+Dominic Silva This is a safely inspection part in most states, so you should be checking them at least every year. As far as how often you should replace it all depends. www.1aauto.com

Hey everybody, my Honda place charged me $340 to replace these. Is this a fair price or did I get hosed?
