I have the 2003 Ford Excursion with Triton V10 and I so wanted to do a spark plug change job myself but a look at the last few plugs that were buried so deep in the engine bay I chickened out. After hearing so many horror stories that these Ford spark plugs break so easily I am not about to put myself in deep shit trouble. A man got to know his limitation and for this one I think I am willing a write a big fat check for someone to do it. But sir you did great.

Thanks for getting right to work instead of plugging everything like everyone else. This helped a lot!

It is a good idea to blow out the spark plug well with compresses air after removing the coil and before loosening/removing the plugs to keep dirt and crap from falling into the cylinders.

Thank you for making this video. My 2000 V10 with 180k miles tells me it has a misfire on 4 and 7. 7 was super easy to change but 4 is going to be a bear! I hope I remember all my magic words 🤬😅

Good job. As difficult as the V10 is, the 5.4L is much more difficult. Not bad for a “rookie”. Keep at it!

Hey Brother! I appreciate your video. It’s my turn to replace my 9th & 10th coil caps and I should just replace those spark ⚡️ plugs as well. So your video helps me out a lot to get familiar with what I am going to need as in tools and how tight the 9th & 10th cylinders are at. By any chance have you replaced your valve cover for this truck in the video?? That is probably my next project on my 02 Lifted Ford Excursion!! Thank you
@RookieRepairs3 жыл бұрын
You should definitely replace all spark plugs. Unfortunately, I have not replace my valve cover- my has no leaks. Nice car by the way!!!

Take compressed air and blow the hole out before you remove the plug, that way your not knocking dirt and debris down into the heads
@RookieRepairs3 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right... that’s the best way to get it done... I had to go back and blow out the dirt/ dust out because I didn’t have a compressor at the time so I purchased a small one that was able to get it done (my big compressor was not available)... thank you for your comment and for your support. Love this truck ...

You never used any lubed any WD-40 to loosen them up or anything that's why they were hard to take out also one friend back in you should use some never sees so they would go and smoother and you won't strip out the threads and the torque setting is around 22 pounds foot pounds follow your manual instructions from Ford it helps a lot
@RookieRepairs3 жыл бұрын
I normally have the car on for 5 mins. and that helps to loosen the spark plugs... Thank you for your comment.

Clean your intake with intake cleaner to get all that carbon of those plates
@RookieRepairs3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I just used air compressor to blow it out but that should definitely help out cleaning all the carbon out.
@jeremydavis48093 жыл бұрын
@@RookieRepairs yeah. They also use a throttle intake cleaner to clean those plates. If you wanted to go even further, you can take off the throttle assembly and clean behind the plates. It helps with your idle and throttle response. Its usually a red can at autozone
@nabielsuleiman70393 жыл бұрын
Also you should have blown out the whole thing cuz there's a lot of dirt and debris on top of the engine
@RookieRepairs3 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right... I had to go back and blow out all the dust/ debris on all cylinders... I didn’t have my compressor with me at the time... this is a must because we don’t know when the previous owner did any maintenance on your “new” car/ truck

Why do these seem so much easier than the v8? I swear the 5.4 has them buried 🤦🏻♂️
