Growing up being 1 of 7 kids when my parents bought their excursion was heaven for our road trips. We regularly went to national parks and would camp 2 - 4 weeks at a time. Parents sold it finally as we all grew up and moved out. Had a little over 500k on it.

I love those old Owners Manuals, they actually sounded like they were written by a human. They told you all the same stuff that the modern ones do, but they didn't sound nearly as robotic and corporate. A great example are the Manuals written by AMC in the '70s. They actually encouraged you to maintain the car yourself, instead of just taking it to the shop, for example telling you how to properly store the car for long periods of time (draining the tank or telling you to pour oil down the carb, yes they actually said that!). The entire Manuals were written in a down to earth tone, as if you were talking to a friend not a corporation. Sadly these things faded out in the late 90's.

I can remember sitting in the third-row seats for hours on end when our family would go on road trips in our excursion. My dad has been daily driving his for around 20 years and its racked up over 300,000 miles. I have the sound of the diesel engine engraved in my mind as he would pull up to the house and the rumble from the engine would shake the walls.

I do, but not necessarily because I think all new cars are bland or the same. It's because with a review of a 1995 XYZ model, it's an interesting look into what cars were like in 1995 or 2003 or 91 or 85, etc. Like the Bronco one was interesting because you saw that car bumpers even by the mid 90s could still just hang off the end and people were fine with it. Or you're reminded that minivans only had one sliding door. You see a handful of 2021 models, you get a sense of what remaining 2021 model videos are going to be like. And you're already familiar with most of the features of new cars from your own experience.

I dont like the rhetoric on newer cars being more boring since I think newer cars are more of a necessity to record for the incentive of being new so he records lots of newer vehicles that don't have many quirks since they're mass market and have less of a niche buyers with some obvious exceptions. However with older cars he gets to pick and choose and quirky old cars will still prove profitable with views normally, and he won't necessarily review something like old camrys or old rav 4s since whats the point? There are aspects of newer cars that can make them more bland like increased regulations, but overall lots of those regulations from a strictly non enthusaist standpoint are pretty helpful especially since those impact cars that enthusiasts wouldn't normally be the target audience for such cars.

To anyone that owns an excursion: My uncle owned one brand new, and the biggest upgrade he did to it was switch out the springs to F250 springs at the dealer. The techs thought it was pointless, but as soon as they drove it, said it felt way better and overall more stable. It’s such a simple thing to do but helps it drive way better, especially today since I assume now most excursions have very worn out suspension.

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! Growing up, my mom drove a Silver 05 Limited Excursion and I LOVED IT. She’s 5’4 and 120 pounds and she drove that Excursion, lifted too by the way, like nobodies business. She traded it in back in 2013 for a Limited Expedition and I was devastated. I always wanted it to be my car when I was able to drive but sadly never got the chance. I know it would be completely impractical to have now but I would die to get my hands on one. I’ve never been in a car that was so comfortable and spacious as that. I miss it sooo much. It truly remains unmatched.

I've had nothing but great success with mine. 9000 lbs camper dragged all over the United States. Today I just put a new alternator on. The last one was in 2008. Thats it! Even that's a very easy job. The engine/ transmission has never been opened up. If you can find one, get one! Remember, 2000 is the best year!!! I remember once as a kid in the summer of 2005 (I believe I had just barely turned 9 at the time), I was out at what was a Kia dealership at the time in Sandy, UT on 10600 South just west of I-15 and on full display on their showroom floor was a car stereo that had - yes, you guessed it - a VCR! One of the other more memorable experiences I had at that dealership was standing under the path of a major transmission line among the cars they had for sale on their outdoor lot for the 2005 model year and I could actually hear the 60 Hz buzzing of the power lines.

This was the pinnacle of big family cars and unfortunately it will never come back. If you keep it, it will always remind you of a simpler, better time and it will make you smile!

Bronco... Taurus... crown victoria... Aspire not all the SUVs were named with E, and not all passenger cars were F I can say that because two of the vehicles you said Expedition and explorer were from the 90s, same with the sedans. also JWC with the five hundred that wasnt originally a taurus, it was actually meant to replace the taurus... but it didnt make sense, since it was just the exact same thing, front wheel drive v-6 powered large family sedan so it was given a rename, the reason it was done was because at the time the five hundred was actually going to replace two cars, the taurus and the crown victoria, since the last year for the crown vic was 07 the five hundred had been brought to market in 05 the original year the crown vic was meant to go away. which didnt happen, but then it still didnt make much sense so they gave up and just slapped the taurus name on it and kept rolling out new models until 2 years ago when they killed the entire car line.

I drove one just like this as a beater when I worked in construction. That excursion was loaded with tools and got treated like hell towing a trailer all over Texas. And ran flawlessly almost always. Hell of a vehicle.

My best friend's mom had a diesel one when we were in elementary school. You'd always be able to see it in car line because it was twice as long as the other Grand Cherokees, Suburbans, Land Cruisers and Discoveries you'd see. One time we were on a trip from north Georgia to PCB in it. We had myself, my friend, his brother and sister and their two best friends. The second row had a PS2 running Sonic Heroes and the 3rd row had a GameCube running Melee. The early-mid 2000s was genuinely a great time to be alive.

You don't have to imagine it. There are a few companies that do a full conversion. You need a 2011 to 2016 crew cab superduty and an excursion. They will cut the cab and fit it to your superduty. It looks factory when complete.

My uncle accidentally got one of these off of eBay by messing around on it and putting a ridiculous bid and actually winning it. He ended up giving it to my cousin as a college car. It was surreal riding in it. We fit 9 very large people in it for a buffet dinner one time and I was the 9th person laying in the back on the floor. Ah the early 00s huge suv days.

My wife and I have never been mini van folk so the excursion was the obvious choice for our group of 6, plenty of room for everyone plus the doogs. The 7.3 has never let me down and even though 2 cubs have grown and moved on we’re still keeping it, might convert it to an overlander one day

My family had a diesel excursion for 20 years but im still watching the whole video lmao Edit: the fuel tank on ours was 40+ gallons and cost $100+ to fill up. Another example of how gorgeously overkill this truck was

@@Mr._Paleozoic I mean at the end of the day what difference does it make? Fill up once for $250 and last for longer or fill up more often just cause its in smaller lumps.

My family had a diesel limited excursion. We took it everywhere we could but it being a diesel it was very pricey to fix and very expensive at the pump. Having air vents all around the vehicle was a great thing though that vehicles today still don't even get right.
