How To Replace Steering Head Bearings on a Honda CB750 Motorcycle | Roller Bearing Upgrade | Part 22
In this Honda CB750k episode, I fit new steering head bearings to my CB750 project bike. I am building this bike to be a road-going rider of a bike, it's not a full restoration.

I have previously tried to adjust the front head bearings on my CB750 project bike. But I still wasn’t very happy with them. I found out it was with good cause when I stripped them down.
I have replaced these bearings before so the job wasn't too daunting. I was very surprised to find that there were no ball bearings at all in the top bearing and only 5 or 6 in the bottom. I was amazed that they didn’t feel a lot worse than they did when I tried to adjust them. Don’t laugh!
I completed the job doing the least dismantling that I could. Tying the handlebars and headlight to one side. The job went well, but I did have to clean some scuffing before fitting the bottom inner race with a small grinding wheel on a Dremel.
I will need to let them settle by riding the bike a little before finally adjusting them. It’s amazing how they loosen up over the first few miles.

On my Honda Shadow I had to use the spacer disc over the outer race on the lower bearing. If not the plate would hit the frame

I suspect the bearing kit is for a lot of different bikes, with different requirements for spacers.

For so many motorbike jobs, removing and replacing all the bits to get to what you want to repair takes longer than the actual repair. As my Yorkshire wife would say, job's a good'un.

Too right, they're tightly packaged machines. It's a labour of love though. Although modern bikes are much harder to work on than this!

Is it possible that thick washer was to give the correct spacing between the seal and the taper cage?

I'm sure it is to be used as a spacer, but I suspect that same kit fits a lot of different bikes, and that part just isn't needed for my one. I am sure it wasn't going to work with it.

Brilliant video as usual, will keep watching. As you suggested I changed out rotor stator and regulator on my cb750 1981. Wondering if you have heard of anyone removing the pressed in idle jets on the keihin VB carbs. Kind regards

Cheers, glad the vids are coming in helpful for you! :) You can definitely replace those idle jets because you can buy new ones. Although I can't say I've replaced them myself. I'd have thought drilling them, tapping them, then threading something in to help with pulling them out would be a good way.
