2007-2010 Lexus ES 350 have been known to have issues with their steering button. I got a replacement off of eBay..it's just the pads itself.. doesn't come with wiring etc.

THANKS FOR THE VIDEO! Changed my switch covers today. FIRST, I pulled the positive terminal off the battery, so no worry about the airbag going off by accident. I also removed the airbag, easy enough if you watch one of the videos on removing the steering wheel. => If you pull the airbag, DO NOT test the new switches with airbag wiring disconnected, you may get a constantly ON airbag light that's difficult to shut off. For me, removing the plastic clips that hold the switches was the most difficult part, until I got out a long, thin, flat-blade screwdriver. I pulled away the rear plastic shroud a few inches, to gain access. After that, it was easy to slip the screwdriver blade UP from the bottom, and under the clips, twist the blade, and the clips released. CHEERS !

Coming back to say thank you for this video! It took me a lil min to build up the confidence to do it but I finally changed out my buttons today with your video as a step by step! My steering wheel looks nice again! If a 30 something year old woman can do this, anyone can! Lol I will add for anyone that wants to do this, I used a torx T30 bit in my drill to loosen those torx screws! I don’t think I could have done it by hand because it took a lot of force! And I needed a smaller Philips head for the 3 little screws behind the button itself but I had almost all the tools. The only thing I had to go buy was the torx T30 bit which I got from Home Depot for under $6! I also didn’t unplug my battery. Just turned the car off. And used a flat head screw driver to loosen the clips holding the button in OUTWARD.

Took an hour for everything. Great video! My new buttons work perfectly.

You made it look too easy. Loosened screws on sides but center horn part seems stuck. Made horn go off a few times. Wished you spent more time on this main part removal. Where specifically to pry and how hard and what to avoid

***Thanks for sharing this video. It helped me change out my 2007 lexus es350 steering wheel buttons. **However, the plastic clips needs to be pulled out, not pushed in. Also there are three little screws holding the button to the base.

👏👏👏Thanks so much for making this video. This made us confident that we could do it AND we did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saved 700.00! You were right about the plastic clips being hard. It took like an hour for just that part! Those tabs needed to be pulled outward vs. pushed in to get them out. Took 3 people!

I swear I saw somewhere they had adhesive stickers that look like the graphics of the buttons that you can just place over them. I can't find them. This seems like the next best thing. Although one thing I will say at the end is best to test the buttons before you reassemble, just to save you a hassle in case there was a problem!
@TRG17192 жыл бұрын
There are 3 levels that you can tackle this situation. 1. Replace the whole button assembly 2. Replace just the touch pads 3. put stickers If i was replacing the whole assembly, yes i would test it. But i'm just putting on the touch pads and I know my buttons work. I think the stickers are on ebay.
@dafaaank10632 жыл бұрын
The stickers don’t fit bc of the curvature of the buttons (waste of money, just buy the buttons and do it right once).

Thank you for the video. Only difficult part was popping off the left side column cap but got it and right side easy peezy. Anyways no issues taking off and putting back on. However when tested left side controls … only the mode button worked volume and skip next prior button did not respond even though I could tell the inner button was being depressed. Anyhow. Wonder if it’s the board even though I had no interaction with the actual board. Well it looks good at least LOL…. Thanks again. Perhaps I should have disconnected the battery first.

@@truefreedom3662 unfortunately that's just what happens with this systems. When it was new..every little thing that didn't work, I'd try to fix it immediately...as time went on, I left it alone and eventually things work again...it could take a while or the next time I turn on the car

@@TRG1719 Thanks for the link. Looks like these come from China (what doesn't???) and the actual link you shared has them at $130. Scrolling under the offer...I see them from $70 - $80 or so...and again all from China and using the same ad layout format. ??? Must be a common practice and one wonders "if" you spend just $70+...does one get the same as the $130 one??? @@vejovagula7338 Yeah i think they all come from the same factory in china and some can just sell it cheaper. The lexus oem will still break apart obviously but maybe will take it a little longer to break than these cheaper china made stuff.
