WOW only $174.99 motion pro suspension service tool. I should buy a spare set at that price. Oh hang on, here are some nuts, washers, sockets, and a threaded rod, what could I possibly use that for.

Exactly!

I have a foot long 1/2 inch diameter threaded rod and nuts/washers, cost about $12 at the local hardware store. Using this setup with various diameter sockets, I can remove and install just about any bearing on your bike. Just gotta take an extra moment and make sure everything is going in square, as stated in the video.

Can you explain to me exactly what hardware I need to build this contraption, I gotta remove the bearings on my 250R and don’t wanna spend all the cash on the kit. Thanks🤘🏼🤘🏼

@@tperez838 Threaded rod: www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-2-in-x-12-in-Zinc-Threaded-Rod-802127/204274026 Nuts & washers: www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-2-in-Zinc-Plated-Nuts-Washer-and-Lock-Washer-6-Piece-per-Pack-803552/204276480 You won't need the split washers for this application, it's just an example of the simple setup. All of the sockets you use to press the bearings will need to be 1/2 inch drive if you are using the 1/2 inch threaded rod. And with this setup, obviously you can't press any bearings with an inside diameter smaller than 1/2 inch.

FYI 1/2 inch threaded rod DOES NOT fit through 1/2 inch drive sockets. Use a 7/16 inch rod.

Removing seals: better to use a proper size wrench depending on the seal size. They usually don't have sharp points like a flathead screwdriver does.

getting the swing arm on and off isn't so easy, or when you have to drill out the chain slider screws on old dirt bikes:)

What grease did you use?
@rmatvmc2 жыл бұрын
The red grease we used was Pivot Works Bearing Grease and the rest was a multi-purpose grease like Maxima Hi-Temp Waterproof Grease.

Put the bearing in the freezer and heat the swingarm then try to instal it
@jayryan7473 Жыл бұрын
Coat metal parts with grease before putting them in the freezer. When you pull them out of the freezer the grease will keep the metal parts from collecting humidity in the air.

Why contact cleaner?
@AndrewBoundy4 жыл бұрын
I've had the same question for a while and from what I can gather, electrical contact cleaner leaves basically no residue, leaving a nice, clean area. Other cleaners can leave a residue, which grease does not like - corrections welcome though!!
