It's what's keeping me from replacing my iPhone X battery which is at 1755 cycles. I can't go to apple because my phone is jailbroken and I can't go to independent repair shops because they probably don't know they need to program it (how do I find a good one that does?) and I'm too lazy to find a programmer which maybe works and yolo-order it.

iPhone batteries are not rated for "up to" 500 cycles. That's just an underestimated number from Apple. Unless you EXTREMELY try to kill the battery as fast as possible, they'll last way longer than 500 cycles until they reach 80%.
