Brian Eslick from How to Automotive www.howtoautomo... takes you step-by-step through the process of replacing the rear blower motor resistor on a 2008-2012 Ford Escape. The bower motor was not working on all the speeds. Installing the new bower motor resistor fixed the problem.

I know this is an old video but here I am in 2023 and I am soooo very thankful for you!! I ordered a new blower motor and I just replaced it all by myself! I’m sure I saved some $$$, I’m glad I didn’t take it to the mechanic! Thank youuuuu!!!!

I was charged $135 for this repair. 2 years later the part broke down again. Did it myself for $46(26 for the part, 20 for the wrench) with help from this video and another one. It's great to have repair vids like this available.

2008 Escape replacing the resistor. Brian you are the only video tutorial I found where step 1 was to remove the glove box completely rather than simply opening it up from the inside. I still took quite awhile to access the 2 resistor screws but it certainly helped having move elbow room to work in. You get the prize today. Thank you.

Thank you very much for the simple demonstration. Between this, and a 2 day Amazon delivery, I now have 4 speeds again. Great job explaining it to someone who can barely check the oil.

Best video on this resistor replacement. Thanks! I just finished this job and it worked perfectly with the recommended Motorcraft part and a 3" long 1/4" drive socket wrench. Once the socket is on the screw head, the braille method is mandatory. A couple extra tips you may find useful: -The plug is hard to push up with your fingers while holding the tab in. I used a flat head screwdriver to insert into the gap on the bottom and lift gently on the bottom, tilting up left and right to make the gap bigger while holding the tab in. Then I could use my fingers to lift. It was much better than trying to lift with my fingers. -Keep the old part nearby for reference so you can remember which holes are for the screws. -When reinstalling the glove box, be sure to line up the tabs before installing the screws. DON'T OVERTIGHTEN ANYTHING! These screws go into plastic. Thanks again!

How to Automotive Have you had any problems with yourEscape Air Conditioner? Apparently a very common issue is the desiccant bag breaking and all the particles end up plugging the pressure valve and then the computer runs the radiator fan on high speed anytime AC is on.

In addition to this very helpful video. My part number was different, but still worked. Also, my part was not initially seating as it should, and I noticed one of the holes was not drilled out as on the original part. It was a hole where a nib fits into. After drilling that out with a 3/16" drill bit, it seated just fine. Thanks for your helpful video here.

I am not that handy but this looked a lot like adding memory to a laptop. My only mistake was taking the socket off the wrench and spinning the screw out by hand.... lost the socket behind the assembly. Oh well. All fan speeds working perfectly and it only took me 20 minutes to replace. Bravo.

Just completed this. $27 from Amazon, 1 day shipping. 15 minutes time, 10 of it spent trying to find a 7MM & 8MM. PLEASE NOTE: This part gets very HOT. I'm assuming that's why they blow out but if anyone tests before installation, the hot is instant, be careful not to burn yourself. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T CHEAP OUT. Be sure to buy a real Motorcraft part. I don't think I'd trust an off brand to the heat, although it's probably all made in China.

I have a 2007 Ford Mustang GT Convertible (only 80,000mi). I have already replaced all of the HVAC actuators, reset them, recalibrated them, blah blah blah. But on LONG drives (more than 3 hours), the A/C blowing will default to the defrost vents BUT ONLY when I have the A/C selector on "Normal" A/C. It works fine if I put it on MAX A/C or Hi-Lo AC. But when on Normal, it will work for a few moments and then it will switch to blowing through Defrost vents (still blowing cold.) Even though I touched nothing. I have already done ALL of the common fixes (via HOURS/Days of online research) for this issue - but No permanent Fix. (on long drives only.) This tells me there is an overheating issue of the electrics - or one (or more) of the actuators themselves are internally overheating and malfunctioning. I was next going to replace the actual dash Climate Control panel/assembly - just for the fun of it. Anyone else had this issue and permanently resolved it? My fixes were only temporary. People who have actually resolved this, please. I have already "shot in the dark" plenty....

Horsepower House I have not run across an issue like this so far. There also may be a programming update for the AC controller that you may wanna look into before replacing it. Ford is always coming out with software updates for issues like this.
