Thank you! helped me swap the lower and upper controller to verify the problem moved with the controller. I suspect the LED/IR is broke on one controller as it always thinks the door is open.

Thanks that's really good. Getting off the top piece with the handle and buttons is definitely the hardest part! I have problem with the optical sensor on the side (I think) so I'm not sure if it's the conroller that I need to replace. How does a controller with no moving parts even stop working anyway??? Beyond my very limited understanding of electronics....thanks for the video.
