I really appreciate this video series. I have a CV boot with some damage (or so the dealership told me) but have not noticed any clicking yet. When or if I experience problems I will probably replace the drive axle as per this video rather than changing out the boot as it seems much more cost and time effective.

At 1:15, you state to remove the 'wheel speed sensor from the steering knuckle', but you don't have an arrow pointing to that item. When you reassemble, at 4:09 you also state to reinstall it, but again no arrow.

At 3:10, you can tell it was edited. Watch it from 3:00 … Re-inserting the driver side CV axle is really tough. I wish they showed what they actually did to insert it because it’s not humanly possible by hand. Now i’m wondering if i’ll mess something up if i use a hammer… is there another tool that works well?
@5speed735i2 жыл бұрын
When I did mine, I threaded the nut onto the end of the axle and tapped it in with a 3lb hammer. You don't have to hit it hard, and the nut being on the end protects the threads.

I only had a big hammer but put a piece of wood to cushion to blow and it worked

On the 2015 there no axel bracket, do you just pry it out?

Removing the pinch bolt for the ball joint on the control arm instead of removing the hub assembly from the suspension via 2 bolts on the top is insanity. 9/10 Versa's are going to have the pin bolt so rusted and corroded that you will destroy the entire joint trying to remove it (I got it out half way after hammering and half a can of penetrant and had to resort to cutting the end of with a Sawzall, finding the OEM bolt was a nightmare and took weeks). Once the bolt is out, the ball joint itself is almost guaranteed to be as big of a headache to get out as pinch bolt, the same process was repeated and it resulted in me removing the entire hub assembly so i could hammer the ball joint out. This effectively made it worthless, and the only way to replace the joint is the remove the entire control arm. If you are replacing the left side, this necessitates removing engine mounts and raising the transmission somehow etc, etc... This tutorial is prescribing months of headache to any Versa owner foolish enough to attempt to mess with the ball joint on the control arm... I think it is irresponsible to not inform people watching this video that the hub assembly can be moved via removing the bolts that connect it to the upper suspension with relative ease allowing the CV axle to be removed just as easily.

I haven't needed to do anything with the drive axle, but I am working RIGHT NOW through replacing almost all parts of my 2010 versa front suspension and mine was rusted to hell and back, and I know exactly what you're talking about with removing the front left control arm. Whoever in japan that made it so you had to unscrew a transmission stability bolt and move it forward to replace a lower ball joint should have been slapped.

I had no problems following video and it on an 07 Versa with 140K miles in a region prone to rust
@Anthonest12 жыл бұрын
@@babarentals2941 Regardless, the method ive described above is far simpler. Why would you attempt to mess with the ball joint and pinch bolt when there are 2 bolts by the strut that you have easy access to with a breaker bar? I did mine at 235K in rust belt but I believed they had been serviced before.

@@blass5506 Good for you, there is still a simpler way to do it.

I'm disappointed that they completely skip the right side bearing bracket. Maybe Nissan did away with the bracket on later models, but the 2007 definitely has it.

Is an alignment needed afterwards?
@5speed735i2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't think so, you aren't changing any adjustment points. The ball joint goes back exactly where it was before.
