The first stretchy belt I ever saw I couldn't believe how dumb the idea was but you know I don't think I have ever seen one fail accept when a compressor failed. Now I'm impressed and even bought the correct tools for them. I guess technology isn't all bad. Well done again, Jim.

Thanks for the great video. I tend to poke around and see how a few people do it and saw someone else hold the stretch belt in place with a zip tie while rotating the crank shaft and thought that it was a cool trick. Cheers!

When putting on the AC compressor stretch belt I am off one rib on the AC compressor pulley. I ran the engine thinking that might cause it to properly seat itself. It did not. What to do? Do I have to cut it and start over? Or is there some trick to getting the belt to move over one rib to properly seat itself?
@jimthecarguy8 жыл бұрын
Yes the way to move the belt is to rotate the engine with a socket at the same time push the belt to the proper grove.

Thanks, it did the trick!

Hello, im trying to change the belt on a 07 mazda3 but it seems like the belt is too loose, but i know i have the right belt cuz i measure to the old one and it is the same length, now even the old one seems to be too loose, i change the tensioner and still the same problem, please help..
@Dr-Shlomo-Cohen5 жыл бұрын
Why not replace the lower right after taking the old one out? Why, lower the car, replace the upper belt first, and lift the car again?

I’ve seen every KZbin video on how to put this AC belt in . And they all put it wayyyy to easy ! I called to verify I had the right part number for this car because I was struggling so much. Idk what the F I’m doing different . I’ve tried a whole pack of zip ties already. I’ve tried it this way like in the video a million times . Maybe I should just sell this car . I’m done thanks for your time ..

Thanks for the video Jim. I noticed you skipped ahead in the video when placing the 1st belt on. I certain I purchased the correct serpentine belt for my 2008 mazda 3 , however, its proving to be very difficult to get on. Should it be this hard to initially get on? Or should i return the belt and try and find something slightly bigger? Or maybe stretch the new one out a bit? Thanks
@jimthecarguy8 жыл бұрын
+guessguy209 That belt is hard to install but if you put it on to the tensioner ansd the other pulleys first and then slide the flat part of the belt on to the water pump it is tight but will go on.Keep me posted.

If I'm only replacing the tensioner pulley, What is the proper torque for that bolt?
@dariosolano52338 жыл бұрын
This is a great video. I managed to replace both belts with the help of my wife. Second belt was certainly tricky to put in place. My wife would use a long screwdriver to help with the positioning of the AC belt from the top at the time that I was working at the tire side. For us experts on rocks and unexperienced on car repairs it was done in just 2 hours. Thanks a lot to jimthecarguy.

Darío Solano a good trick for future reference is use zip ties in place of pushing on the belt, run a few zip ties through the cut out sections on the crank. Turn the motor manually and the belt will snap itself into place

Hey jim, I have been working on cars for quite some time now and I never even knew what a stretch belt was but even though I've looked some things up online about it I still can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for, is there anyway you would be able to call me or a way that I could give you my number because it's very important that I speak with you

I recently discovered your channel and it is really good you explained the job at pace that is suitable to my skills. as for this video on replacing the belts on 05 Mazda 3 I hope it can help me with my 02 Mazda Protege The difference is the belt on the protege runs over 3 items I think A/C compressor steering pump and something else. Would I need any special tools? any advise on this task?

Is this the same steps as the 2006 2.3L? The placement of the belt looks to be the same. I will confirm the belt part number for the 2.3L.
