How to replace the Dyson cable rewind on a Dyson DC05

Success with DC21! I pulled the cord out too far on my Dyson DC21. Called Dyson helpline, they quoted ~$166 to send it in for repair. Watched the video, opened up the Dyson, recoiled the cord, no need to replace the motor. It was very tricky to get it all back together and aligned. (Notes: locate all 6 screws, need to pop-off wheels to access 2 screws each side, clear part of coil needs to align within grooves, and push-button lign up with grey plastic spring-loader)

@FeeLtheHertZ Hello FeeLtheHertZ. The cable was pinched a little, but we pulled it through the Cable Entry quickly while the Lower Motor Assembly was raised so it was a little hard to see.

Great video. It did take a while as on my DC05 motorhead i had trouble getting the wheels off. You have got to take the wheels off or its impossible to line the casings up when your putting it back together.

Brilliant Vid, is there anyway of tightening my cable rewind, its just doesnt rewinf properly i have to feed it in slowly with the button down, its my landladies hoover so im not to sure about buying new bits for her as shes a b*tch.. Many thanks in advance Mike

Take it apart as shown, until you take out the cable reel. Then just wind the part without the cable on several times in the same direction as the drum would rotate when winding in the cable. Although, if its the landladies, tell her to buy a new one!
