Good video, how did these pigtails hold up? Ive have to replace mine every year for the last 4 years on my 2008 silverado, the driver side always goes out first followed by the passenger

My left headlight works in the winter, does not work above 40 degrees. Constantly going through bulbs as well. Both regular and LED's. Was at the point both went out. Original owner had the same problem not too long after new. Is the harness the issue in these? Because If you look at Sliverados coming at you on the road, 50% will have a headlight out....at least in my area.

Same in my area and not just the pickups. I bought a complete new harness on ebay for $13.00 no need to cut

The driverside and passenger side bulbs take the same harness, which has the same two wires. Sounds like a trip to the junkyard is in order to see what fit fits. Cut, solder it up. Will work

Did you have to disconnect the power from the battery to do this or it’s fine to leave it how it is?

I definitely recommend disconnecting the battery when doing ANY work on ANY wires on a vehicle. If the two wires touch, yall blow a fuse or worse causing more work! Hope it worked out!

Would this work also on a 2005 gmc sierra? Issue though is the connectors are corroded inside. Not sure if that means there is also another issue of water getting into connector.

What’s causing this problem?? Just purchased my 3rd headlight harness and the connector was damaged again due to overheating/burnt I need help on this one. 2012 suburban also thinking in just replacing the lights with LED Lights
@thejungleexplorer2 жыл бұрын
It may be caused by a short in the engine compartment fuse box. I had to replace the whole box eventually because the OEM connections are weak, wear out, and cause intermittent connections, leading to overheating.

I got the same problem with my 2011 silverado. It's hard to see how u sodder the wires with your hands in the way. I see It's a very small work space. I'm trying to figure out if I do it your way doesn't the wires have to be touching together so that voltage to flow into one another ? u did yours separately. I'm just trying g to understand.

@thejungleexplorer4 жыл бұрын
@@MWDAdventures So you are saying hat the connection is coming apart? Did you watch my whole video? I talk about the reason it is necessary to solder the wires. A regular crimp connection is not sufficient because it will heat up due to resistance.

@@MWDAdventures did you solder? sounds like it's overheating and expanding so the bulb is wiggling out or possibly too much vibration

Do you have to take your battery off 1st so you don't get shocked?
@thejungleexplorer3 жыл бұрын
The headlights only have power to them when the car is turned on. Additionally, it is very difficult if not impossible to be shocked by low voltage DC power in a car.

You should have taken out the engine and fenders to make that connection much easier. Thank you for sharing. My connectors got extremely brittle in this Arizona heat, while changing the lights and grille, I ended up with broken connectors. I was looking for something built better.

@@thejungleexplorer ... man, now it’s the brake ones too. Thank goodness LMC had it all. I had everything replaced in 2009, and in 12 years, this heat has dry rotted everything again, even under the dashboard. Got all the wiring ordered, should be here by Wednesday and I’ll be painting the truck next week. Watching your video convinced me to do the connections before putting the truck back together.
