How To Replace The Headlight Housings In A 1988-1998 GMC/Chevy C/K 1500

We decided to give the 95 Silverado a much-needed face lift with brand new headlight housing units; provided to us by YITAMOTOR and AUTOSAVER88. These in particular are black inlay to make the white paint of the vehicle stand out. Install is super simple and only takes you roughly 30 mins at most.

Don't need to Remove Grill to Replace Headlights, I found this out the hard way, just two bolts sticking up on top of each headlight housing, screw them up and out of housing and Headlights will fall out...

Ya you can do that. If you're replacing the back plating though, you'll have to remove the grill.

not on 1995 Tahoe at least. I had to take off my grille to change my bulbs; I learned the hard way and broke my headlight housing

Noticed your front signal light bulbs are a combo amber and clear, I believe they should all be amber or all clear, but then I guess depends where in North America you live................

You're right, but my buddy just wanted a little different look. I recommned running the dual ambers. Just my preference.

Any videos or how-to on adjusting the new headlights to the correct hight so the lights don't point down?

I have not made any but I certain can! I will tell you though, there are 2 long metal rods that go down into the back of the headlights. Those rods need to be either rotated left or right which will in turn lift the lights up or down. Just do it at night in front of a garage or wall to make sure your adjustments are even!

I saw one guy put tape to show where the shined before mod. Then used that as a reference once he installed the new. But not sure if he explained adjustment. But it might help center lights before you bolt everything down

For 99% of people just replace your headlight housing and skip the back plating. No need to remove a grille. They aren’t 7mm top bolts they are 5mm.

Can you replace the side markers too without taking the grill Off ?

I have the wiring harness, so when you’re on high beam, both headlights are on. Can you tell me if that’s very hard to install?

I've personally never installed one of those on this model truck but the wiring for the lights on these trucks are fairly simple so I would say it'll probably be a straight forward job for you. Let me know how it goes!

Why didn’t you just take the light assembly out then put on the Lights ?

We wanted to do a full replacement. Simply just to put something new on it. You definitely could have just swapped out the lights but someone might want to do the full swap as well.
