I once bought an 850 sedan at auction in Los Angeles, and tried to drive it to Atlanta. You could smell the rear tires scrubbing the road, and little flecks of rubber covered the trunk and rear window as I drove. I bought two tires, for the rear, to start. They were gone by New Mexico, so I bought more at a junkyard and replaced them in New Mexico, again somewhere in Texas, and again in Alabama. I wish I had seen this video before THAT adventure.

Quick tip: When replacing the passenger side bushing takeoff the passenger wheel and you can slide the socket adapter and 12 inch extension in through the top. It fits much straighter.

Thank you! i have been putting this off since i thougth those were pressed on. Now i see that it is just a matter of nuts bolts and elbow grease. Yeeha, gotta get this done before it gets to cold outside. Thanks again. Btw, my volvo is a 1998 2.5 non turbo, 145hp wagon. 344000kms, or about 213751 miles. Still runs great. Even better after replacing the distributor rotor and cap, that had Never Been Replaced since new.....

Great video that saves you a lot of time from having to get out from under the car to get the right socket size.👍👍

This is timely for me because I have just started hearing noises from the rear suspension of my 98 V70. What I hear is more of a creaking sound than a metal banging noise, but now I will know what I am looking at when it stops raining and I get under there. Control arm, delta links, shocks. I rebuilt the entire front suspension when I bought the car, but have never really looked at the rear suspension. As usual, Robert, you are such a valuable resource. Welcome to Ohio.

Pull the front floor panel in the rear and check the top shock mounts.

@@RobertDIY Thanks, Robert. I will do that. I have enough car projects to keep busy this summer. I'm going to have two little granddaughters here for about five days and then will dig in.

@@RobertDIY got one bolts in on the passenger side for the Body of the bushing, And both bolts on the driver side through the bushing. But I can’t seem to get the other bolt lined up… Is there any easy way to spread apart the trailing arms/wheels they don’t seem to budge

Haynes makes it seem much more complicated or Robert makes everything so much easier to understand!!! :-)) I replaced mine a couple of years ago with Meylee. Hopefully it won't crack soon again. The bushing's look OK, just the metal cracks.

All I have is what you see here. Did you take the other side loose?

Hi, i cant seem to get the sway bar out on the driverside because it is stuck behind the bushing and the bolts throught the bushing are rusted/fused together with the bushing it self so i cant get the bolts out, i tried hammering them, i have a hydraulic lift in my garage i lifted my car as high as i can and i hit them (bolts) as strong as i could but no luck. Tomorow i will try to wiggle the sway bar out to give my self more working space, and if i still cant get them out i will just cut the bolts…

pull the tire and it helps to lift the weight off of the trailing arm. I also take the other side loose to shift the trailing arms around.

Hi Robert, Great vídeo. I have a volvo 1997 v70r Fwd and the rear vibrates a lot at high speed. Can it be related to these? Are there any bushings left to change on the rear? My car has 342k kms. Thank you
