Excellent. Thank you Keith. You talked about possible blunting of the cutter with heavy papers/canvas and cutting by hand.. To get the paper to advance enough for a manual cut, does the printer have a paper advance/retract capability or do you need to set the printable area to have one long end to allow cutting ?

Yes, the paper can be advanced/retracted. There are several aspects of this covered in the on-line manual. You can print a cut-line too.

Hi Keith I have the spcetro proofer awsome if you own somthing like mirage which is exspensive so after my 14 day trial it is no use to me but did profile all my papers, sit back and does it all for you even dries the ink. I would sell it on and go back to another cheaper way to profile but I do not have the front panel you removed, do Epson sell that item on it's own ?

The part should be available as a service part, but I suspect won't be cheap. Technically, it doesn't perform any function if I remember correctly. I last tested the SP when I had a P7000 here to test.

Cheers Keith I will remove and see what happens the proofer on it's own probably weighs as much as a p900 lol. Nice info on the cutter also thanks loving the videos. @@KeithCooper

About how many prints do you guesstimate you could trim with that cutter of a thicker fine art paper like Epson Hot Press Natural or that Hahnemuhle Bamboo? Maybe 2 dozen before needing to replace? Three dozen? Or at least a good vacuuming inside afterwards?

Thousands... [cleaning more often] At over £150 for a blade unit, I'd not expect to replace it for a long time.

Dear Keith, I can't find a way to directly ask a question and if you disabled the "message me" for a reason, I appologize for this one. However, I'll try my luck. Maybe a year ago I bought an xp 970 after consulting your video(s). I wanted to print A3. Im a painter and do not sell giclee prints, I just need it in a stage of my work. I print on oil paper or fine linen, areas of a work, or guidelines for the work. It saves time and makes my work easier. Then I continue painting in oil the composition Im working. Question is this: on Hahnemuhle fine art photo paper (I tried only this one), A3 loaded in the rear slot works fine. When I want to print on special oil paper from other companies, I get 2 smudged black stripes in the (almost) middle of the image. I cleaned, changed the maintenance box, contacted Epson, use right inks... Nothing helps. The oil paper has a fine structure in it but it's from 23 to under 300 grams. Any idea what I should do? And another: where can I find a legit icc profile for the printer, that would cover my materials? I will soon buy an ecotank for sublimation, as I want to print full color designs and later press that work on a cotton support. So I'll get guidance from your videos again. Thank you so much! Mon

Hi - best way of contacting me is always email via the Northlight Images site... I check email on a different system to what I use for this stuff. The problem is that the 970 inks are most likely not compatible with the 'oil paper' - that is almost always the cause for smudges and incorrectly drying ink. If the paper isn't compatible, profiling is useless I'm afraid
