How to replace the Second Hand on a Seiko Samurai - My second attempt

In a previous video (www.tinyurl.com/AWT-Movement) I attempted to replace the 4R35 movement in my Seiko Samurai watch SRPB55. It went fine until I bent the second hand. I had to order a new hand. In this video I continue my work on this project. But… I hit a new issue.

Thank you for posting. I'm glad it's not just me. My first watch went together effortlessly, but I've been through 2 second hands for this second build. Waiting for replacements now and was feeling a little discouraged.

Hoo boy, looks like me on my first go as well. Glad I am not alone! Finally got it in the end after buying a few more second hands.... it gets easier tho I think with practice.

Nice job, ive done about 5 of these nh35's so far (I'm just starting out), and like you first time was a disaster. I spend about 3 hours on my hands and knees looking for it on a carpeted floor, much swearing and cursing each time it didn't go on and every time I dropped it... untill I totally bent it up. 2nd time I used a press the same as yours but put a little bit of rodico in the hole of the pusher to hold the hand steady while i lined it up and that worked pretty well, 4 or 5 goes it was on and no drops on the floor. But now I tend to use the tube like hand pusher tools while olding the hand in rodico. It's amazing how much easier it gets each time, the first time I honestly thought "Iv'e spent all this money on watch parts and tools and I can't do it" it really put me off the hobby. Now though I feel much better and like I said every time it seems to get easier. Nice watch by the way and I look forward to more videos.

The second hand is the only part that was a problem

That second hand is made to go on several different Seiko watches and this way you can cut it to size that little cylinder that little round piece on the end is meant so you can handle it and use your tweezers to pick it up and when you install it you can install it with using that piece and then you trim it 2 size while it's installed

I suppose you could pop the Crystal and remove the chapter ring and then set everything in place. However, in my opinion that would be a whole lot of work for the sake of that little lollipop. I would just clip it.

It's about time you got the right tool for the right job those hand presses are nothing but garbage you're better off using the individual little tools for each hand each size as a different pressure point and you will not wind up bending the hand this way you haven't even pressure on there that the size of the ring on the tool fit the size of the hand and then we'll be even pressure at all times

There you go again Mr Shakey hands will you please take a good stiff drink and calm down because you will never get that second hand on there if you keep doing what you're doing Ortho rest your elbow on the table take a deep breath and as you're applying the piece to the face of the watch left let the breath out slowly and apply the second-hand this way your hands won't Shake mr. Shaky hands
