Common issue with the Dana 35 Jeep rear end weak spider gears if you're running tires 33 inch or bigger you tend to break them they're actually fairly easy to change if you break one on the trail

A little tip, if you put the two spider gears in the diff without the thrust washers it allows you to position the gears then you slide the pin in through both gears but allowing enough room to slide the thrust washer in behind the spider gear. Once you have done that you can slide the pin across a bit and slide the other thrust washer behind the spider gear.

Thank you so much man, Great Vid! My Spider gears went out on the side of the road, fairly simple fix by the time i got it home.

did you notice your ring gear is loose? When you first spin the diff you can see the ring gear didn't move right away

Good Video. My Ex-wife's Jeep has the same problem in the front axle. It sounds like the front has no oil in the differential but it sure has.

Is this basically the same layout, besides the C clips, as the rear dana 44 Jeep JK 2010 Sport open differential? 3.73 gears

never tap in. first time job went quick, took me 4 hours to figure out the 2 spider gears, its tricky, lol but once you do it once you can do it again. for some reason now my seal didn't hold but doing it again but this time my axle won't push in, lol. don't know why perhaps hung on something all I need is a cm and the c clip will fall out, just odd but an easy job overall.

If my spider gears have some chips in them.but everything else is ok can i just fill it with fluid and run it? How long do u think it will last before it blows up?

Great video. My brother and I just drove his 2004 TJ 480miles today and got to our destination and his rear diff was burning hot clunking and shuttering/grinding when turning left and right then no noise when driving straight. The fluid is new and topped off it was also really bubbly 🤷🏼 anyone have any tips or advice? TIA -Zeke

Hi, thanks for the video. I am trying to remove the axle shaft so I can replace a leaking seal (and the bearing while I'm there--and probaby the spider gears as well) But, I've run into a problem...I removed the 1/4-inch bolt, and that pin, but for some reason when I push on the end of the shaft it doesn't go in far enough to release the c-clip. Argh! The clip is turning free enough...but it feels like the shaft is butting up agsinst metal out at the wheel end and not simply sliding in like it does in your video and every other that I've watched. Any ideas? Suggestions? So far, I've tried tapping at the end with a rubber mallet, but nothing. Any help would be very much appreciated! ~~Thx, Mark
